Van Helsing

Excellent. Looks really cool. Let's just hope it doesn't turn into another "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen"...one of the biggest disappointments I've ever had.

I hear there are plans to turn this into a trilogy, actually.

I dunno, I like Peter Cushing's Van Helsing. It was more refined. This movie appears to put too much emphasis on mind-blowing action. As such, it doesn't excite me.

Requiescat in pace.

I don't know if anyone is a fan of Van Helsing, but the new trailer looks hellagood.
Its worth a check even if you've never heard of it before.

One of the dumbest concepts ever

Like League of Extraordinary gentlemen, I doubt I can be tempted to go see it

Garfield looks good, tho'

This movie seems very reminiscent of LXG to me: Mixed 'legends', high-tech low-tech, cartoonish action...

Hugh Jackman is a good actor, has a crossbow and a sense of humour, so it couldn't be that bad.

On my computer the CG looks almost as bad as the Phantom Menace. After Gollum no CG character can afford to be mediocre.

And yes, I agree wholeheartedly that Gollum set a higher standard :)

You're both wrong.

It was blatantly obvious that Gollum was a CG character...therefore, he was a failure.

(I did love that little guy, though...)

Hear hear.

But this was true for most of Lord of the Rings, especially that hilarious "lighting the beacons"-bit (also, think about it, some of those beacons were on the top of some mountains. Bare mountains. So basically one or two guys live on these mountains (on what? How do they get food?) waiting for beacons to be lit that haven't been lit in some centuries. Also, what about the wood? These are snowy mountains, if I remember correctly, so apparently they also constantly kept the wood dry...somehow)

Lord of the Rings has been made way too early. One of the many reasons the last two sucked so badly.

For you Kharn:

www.moviemistakes.com

So you can look up all of the errors known in movies. ;)

But Gollum DID raise the bar for CG. He was still obviously no human, but that doesn't mean that he didn't look better than other CG characters.

He probably knows everything on that site already, heh.

And I agree that the Gollum CG has placed a good benchmark.

He probably could have created that site, or filled it with content. He is the king of movies.

On topic now, I'm a sucker for vampire movies, so I'll definitely see it.

Heh, thankyee

That's errors, though, which makes continuity errors (like magic bag trick in Gangs of New York*) or setting errors (like the magic watch trick in Glory** or the magic pants trick in Gladiator***) or just errors (magic man trick in Big Lebowski****)

This is not an error. It's logically inconsistent. It makes no *sense* for a couple of people to endure hardships living on a mountain maintaining a beacon that hasn't been lit for ages.

It's a bit of illogical thinking like the "human beings make good batteries"-bit of the Matrix

*Amsterdam meets Johnny after getting out of the school. During 4 following shots, he keep switching the way he's holding his bag without moving

** one of the soldiers is wearing a modern watch

*** one of the soldiers in the background is wearing jeans

**** during the "scattering Donnie's ashes"-scene, near the end, a guy walks up the rocks just above Walter and the Dude. Stories went around that this symbolised Donnie's soul going up to heaven. Fact is, it's the sound guy accidentally walking on the set

Not yet. It comes out in the summer it think

Stop reminding me

Saw the trailer. My friend and me couldn't stop laughing when it said "from the director of the Mummy and Mummy Returns"

Christ, this is going to be so bad.

You seem to be changing your mind a lot lately...

Looks pretty bad to me, but I do admit Frankenstein looks cool even though that thing on his chest looks like those guys in batman forever.
