Various FO1 Questions

I'd be surprised if the rifle isn't there... maybe your monitor is just too darn dark? It should be in the shower in the apartment on the bottom left. I know there's a fan site with screenshots to help people locate items like the Bag and Easter Egg in Fo2, maybe they have something on this. Can't remember the link, though. Anyone else?

pulling head out of ass...

I found the sledge and the rope in the hut south of the crops. I'm not sure where I got that they were in the outhouse.

My screen is pretty dark (I've tried everything I can to lighten it up, with very little improvement. I don't know, I use the "highlight item" option, and I have covered every inch of the floors in every bathroom of V15 with the cursor and can't find that damn rifle. I find 223 ammo all over the floor in V15, but I can't find the rifle. It drives me crazy, I'd rather have the rifle than the SMG, to tell the truth.

On the other question, with the time running out after escaping back to the outside after 'win the game in 20 minutes'. Once, I just rested with my PIP past the deadline. When I came out of the rest the little sticky note was gone and I was able to loot and raze the entire map to my heart's content with no end. However, if you play it out, and are in gameplay when the time runs out, you get the 'fail to save the Vault' ending.

Per, perhaps you could post a screenshot in here to show where it is? It could also be a version problem. There are like zillions of versions of FO's for different countries/continents so...who knows.

Yes, as I remembered, the sledge and the rope were in the shed near the crops at Shady's place.

The rifle is good, but the SMG is also pretty good for example in Junktown. Burst that Dr. Frankenstein-wanna-be's bodyguards when they G0 Evil. And also good for slaying Gizmo and his croonies.

"Judge me now"
"used to be afraid to let it show, bow down"
"a king in my own mind"
"everything's in place"
"so much brighter from today"

Burst and I just don't get along. Minimum damage all the time against the bad guys, hit good guys A LOT for max damage...with high luck characters, too. I've gotten to where I like the aimed shots. I get a hunting rifle as fast as I can and aim for the eyes a lot. With the finesse trait, you can end a lot of fights with one shot early in the game. When I get the 223 pistol, it usually becomes my only weapon until/unless I find the alien blaster or upgrade the plasma rifle.

Jay

I'd rather have the hunting rifle too. As I recall, the rifle isn't always there...at least in the US version.

In Fallout 1 it is way too easy to aim-shoot-hit enemies in the eyes. And if I recall it right, wasn't there some sort of an ammunition problem/bug/issue in Fallout 1 also?

The .223 pistol is THE best weapon in the game. Well maybe not the best weapon, but the best pistol. I have never got the alien blaster. :/

Zig, isn't always there?

Never complain about the cranial-ocular shot...art in it's purest form.

As far as firearms, the 223 pistol is the best weapon in FO1. When it comes to energy weapons, the turbo-plasma rifle only surpasses the Alien blaster because of the range.

I have never ran into an ammo bug in FO1, unless you count the AP ammo glitch.

Jay

I think you need a luck of 7+ before you can get the Alien blaster encounter...

Hello!

Can someone please send me the FO1-Mac(!)Exe for OS X ?

I only have the OS 9 Versioin so far aand I want to try the newer version (and my Mod....) out.....

(No I cannot get a FO1-Copy - at least not here in GER ;-((( ....and its much too expensive to order it from the States....)

'sides, why do you assume you have to import anything from overseas?
Amazon.co.uk has the Macintosh versions of both games IIRC.

I did mean that AP ammo glitch. Kinda annoying.

I always play with luck from 2-4 because seriously I have never found any actualy use for it.

Jona0: Hey, if the games are too expensive, switch hobbies! Or utter out loud every curse you know and jinx your country even more.

I found the hunting riffle in V15!

Ok, heres where it is.

The bottom left room on level 2.
Look in the bathroom in that room.
Its in the corner of the bathroom stall.

Yea, before I got ahold of Per's Guide, I was shelling out the extra cash for the AP ammo every chance I could, thinking it was "better". Doh!

Luck seems to make a big difference when I play. Cha with higher luck cause more crits and take less damage, don't have as many crit fumbles...and that's on top of the neat random encounters...

Thanks, man...I'm gonna check it out...

>You've been around long enough to know better, jona0 - we >don't allow that here.

What do you mean?
I neither have a pirate copy of FO, nor do I ask for one!
What if the exe was defunct, I may not ask for a working one?

I searched amazon.uk for FO1 and I couldnt find it (only FO2 or FO1 for Win!), so I would need a version of the States - and thats not an alternative (+50$ only for shipping!) - then I would prefer to buy a very old Mac (with OS 9) instead....

I have all 5(!) Versions of FO (2 Mac and 3 PC) - and of course all Originals!
What I want is simply that is a common thing in the PC World:
There is f.e. a Win2k-Patch for TR5 (and many other games) and no one even thinks of a pirate copy !
(...but Macplay doesnt offer any patches but e,g Blizzard does!)

And I wish only a OS-X patch, because I HAVE FO1 already - thats all!

Greetings
Jona

You can ask an admin if it's ok, but the rules that have been handed down to me say no *.exe trading, regardless of whether it's for a legitimate purpose or not.

Q: Is there something else I should know?

A: C D E D B D Ducks

Q: MR Not Ducks

A: O F M R
C D E D
BD Wings

Q: Y I B M A Ducks

Is this some kind of inside joke that I'm not getting because I'm a computer moron?

It's a tribute to a dialogue/riddle in the game Wasteland:

URABUTLN

URAQT2

Each letter is meant to be a word or phoenetic equivalent, ie U R A B U T L N = You are a beauty, Ellen.

C D E D B D Ducks = See the itty bitty ducks, etc.

I figured it was something like that.
I've never played Wasteland, (and I'm not all that bright) so I gave myself a headache trying to decrypt it...
