Vault 13 Water Flask

InTheOnlineAsbestosSuit

Look, Ma! Two Heads!

Made it myself with a flask I got at target and some blue fabric I found that happened to be the perfect color. I'm not psyched about the font on the numbers, but they are easy enough to get off so if I find better ones I'm going to replace them. Still gotta color the numbers in yellow as well but I can't seem to find a good dye or ink to do it with. The screw in the top is to plug a hole from where I took of the little latch that connected the cap to the flask. I figure it looks more beat up this way, but I need to get some hot glue or rubber to seal it cause there's a slight leak from around the screw.

EDIT: For some reason, I can't upload the fixed image now, will do it tonight.

EDIT2: finally got photobucket to stop being a dick.

yeah, that thing bugs me too. other than that it's a pretty good flask.

It really doesn't look like it was in a mirror, but why would it get taken in a mirror?

Ah crap, I forgot to flip the image. It was taken on a webcam thats built into my computer. I'll fix it and replace the image.

EDIT: never mind, I guess my photoshop copy needs a new serial number.

EDIT 2: Scratch that, done.

EDIT 3: Thanks Schuljunge, that was helpful even though I still got mad and fought my computer over it hah.

Any more edits??!!

:D

Looks very nice, but AFAICS the numbers are not at all like those on the original flask:

But since you said that you weren't concerned about how they look, you can just ignore this post. :P

I just realised I never told you I liked it, but I do!

If you wanted to create a real replica, it looks like the 13 has an emboss in it (pushing the 13 "into" the metal). But that type of thing you wouldn't worry about unless you were going to sell it as merchandise :P

Weren't there similar waterflasks given out as part of the Fallout 2 release party?

I seem to remember something about that from an earlier thread...

Anyway, the duck is right about the emboss. Also the font is obviously wrong. And the one in the game is more curved than flat.

But I like it nevertheless. Neat to have.

Not the one the Elders gave you. Maybe one you would get in vault 13. It looks like brand new but it's a good start. Looks something Vic would create to sell. The blue fabric is close but the numbers are too "square". Anyway looks good.

since i'm reviving this VERY dead and rotting thread, i hope this is considered useful and constructive:

scratch detail.

back stitching.

obviously, it's tooling leather, not embossed metal. anyone else try their hand at one of these [or have one made for them] in the past year?

Huh, it's my turn to revive this topic, which I found when googling to see if someone else made a Vault 13 flask like the one I just made two hours ago :

No. The flask was originally like this :

When I removed the black false-leather parts, the metal behind was still a bit sticky. I also put some glue on the top part of the concave face to be sure it doesn't move. But I think that even without that, it is laced tight enough...

I saw in web shops many replica stuff for fans, from games & movies, why someone dont produce hi quality V13 flasks? personally i would like to have one
