Vault Boy Awareness Day

the funniest thing is that all over the nma site vault boy is refeard to as pip boy.. just look at the gallary.. all the pictures of vault boy is refeard to as pip boy ;)

Of course, that's a big fat lie, sir, as he is quite consistently called Vault Boy", except three instances of the Hulk Boy avatars named erroneously by Odin four years ago, and one instance by me in the Fan Art section. Maybe a few more I missed, but not many.

Fan-uploaded pictures, on the other hand, are quite frequently named mistakenly, which just goes to show how everybody should read this article. :P

While I was calling him Fallout Boy.. I noticed a CD at Hastings by the Emo band, Fallout Boy, I was like ummm what this shit thinking it was some candy assed selection of post apoc music... I was all pissed when I found it was some emo band.

Silencer:

i agree i was a bit exaggerating, you were rite those were my only references. but still i found it a bit funny :)

As if the quotes from the art director were not good enough
How was Boyarski's quote not good enough when I said "That link served as reference nicely"? The quote was served *after* I asked for proof NOT before.

they've taken pics directly from the game. If that's not enough proof for you then fire up your own copy.
Yes, there's a pic that confirms that the little redheaded kid is christened PipBoy. There was and has never been no doubt of that what-so-ever... Perhaps my mental capabilities are a little bit underdeveloped, so please, go ahead and elaborate how a picture of PipBoy confirms that the other little bugger is called VaultBoy.

Hm, posting references to sources is just good journalism. As you said, anyone can claim whatever he/she wants - it's referencing that shows you're not the only one saying that.
That may also lead to a group of misinformed people, but at least it's structured misinformation - we can track back to the first misinformer...
Ahh, going well offtopic here.

To continue this offtopic rambling:

And it's a quite good band too! If Fallout would feature some intense, heart-pounding action (maybe if it turns 3D?), I'd vote for them to be playing in-game.

But then again, I guess I don't want any of the latter happening. At all.

*edit*
Almost forget to post my only ontopic comment: Good initiative Alec! This should be well-known to forum regulars, but seeing that the devs even confuse vault vs fallout vs pipboy, this is quite useful ;-)

Please tell me you're joking.

Consider yourself lucky not standing in front of me, I would slap you so hard....I bet you think that sex is the next best thing compared to fallout tactics.

This once again proves that it's human to stop looking/listening when we see what we want to see...

Are we on a witchunt eh, RUN_LIKE_HELL, 10mmCurator & DirtyDreamDesigner? 8)

Luckily Silencer is more like the true Fallout fan: he at least gathers all info before making judgement

Although I feel inclined to say: I like the isometric view & turnbased combo, which makes a RPG give that ol' trusty & sturdy feel (Fallout, the Baldurs Gate & Icewind Dale series, ...), current gaming trends tend to lean toward gaining mass interest.

The Fallout franchise didn't turn out to become that much of a success in term of sales. Developers nowadays think that more fast-paced / accessible games sell better.

Because of the mass copying of games, we cannot really prove what success a game has. In a better situation, Fallout 3 would feature on a platform like Steam, with internet-verification of purchase. And be turnbased.
Maybe, like this, the Fallout franchise could once one more revolutionize the RPG world. The first time by giving it new life (F1: Eh, a RPG without all that fantasy crap, outside dusty dungeons, is possible - F3: Eh, it doesn't have to be Oblivion or Diablo to be interesting).

Idle hope, I assume.

Untrue. It was the second best seller on the market for a while, and it continues to sell well to this very day.
