Vault of the Future closes

DJ Slamák has closed the more than 4 years old Fallout fansite Vault of the Future. He left a big-ass rant on the front page, go and read or if you're too lazy, here's the conclusion:
So, on February 8, 2005, Vault of the Future became one hell of a misnomer. Teatime said it's okay to keep the site online, so all the content will still be available to you. It was a great time, and that time is over. I'm not leaving you forever, I'll still be here to hear you boo me out (deservedly) for not delivering on all the promises I made; but all good things must come to an end.

(...)

Congrats to NMA and DAC - they're the two oldest big English-language Fallout sites, and now they're the last remaining two as well.
And a good run it was. Vault of the Future, we salute you! Though you may be dead and expelled from the Vault, your Real Stories will be remembered forever, locked up in a cave, guarded by giant ants and radscorpions.

On a lighter note, Duck and Cover started a FalloutWiki a few days ago. Go over and contribute.

Wow that is sad times. But it’s safe to say even if Bethesda is not successful with F3 that some day someone will. And NAM/DAC will not be the only ones left.

Is it me or things just get worse and worse or are we at the bottom and nothing more coud be worse :?:

Actually things have been alot worse, anyone remember the period between fo2 and Van Buren which laster for quite some time.

Now we at least know that Bethesda is in the pre production of Fallout 3, which is something to look forward to..even if they fuck it up (we could have fun like in the good old fbos days).

So cheer up guys and gals..

But it's sad to see Fallout sites dropping.

I started listening to "The End" by The Doors and having flashbacks of Martin Sheen in a hotel room in Saigon when i read that, wonder why...

Well, another Fallout site bites the dust. I imagine many new ones will spring up once Fallout 3 is made. They will be populated by new fans that worship the new concept designed by the new development team. We, who have followed the series since 1997 and watched it decline, will slowly fade into background and be forgotten.

Bite your tongue, Rat Man.

As long as we enjoy the game, and can still have excitement over it, we're here for good.

Here`s what i already posted at DAC, and i mean it:
The Real Story was the most fun thing anyone ever setup for the community, it was great, with the Fallout Quiz coming in second .

Great job DJSlamák, you did a wonderfull job, Vault of the Future will rule forever

Strange indeed... You should be wondering about what was in the G.E.C.K. and having visions of green grass above a canyon... ;) *hint, hint*

The time of the Elves has ended, time to find the boats

ah it's a bummer. Another one down.

But yes, let's wait and see what happens with FO3.

And, best as I know, we are not going down.
