You make it sound like that's not allowed.
Really? How so? I mentioned what I thought it was, in reply to Alec's post, without even commenting it.
It's "unfitting" on purpose. You see, that's my style to draw. Bright colors, childish characters, etc.
I hate it when people justify a crappy piece of art with "style". Comforming to anatomical and lighting mistakes and accepting them as style doesn't really take you far if you take drawing seriously. See, petting one's ego and one's achievements is probably the last thing to do when you're learning how to draw, as you stand in one place without making any kind of progress, which eventually leads you to drawing the same thing over and over with minor differences, never making anything new nor original.
Sorry, but that doesn't mean you get any kind of special treatment in my book, or around these parts. Especially when it comes to commenting your artwork.
Furthermore, the fact you're a girl hardly explains your choice of colors and characters. I know girls from my art academy that draw as if they were carving with a knife, and a particular specimen once tried to crucify mice as an installation project.
You don't have to like it, but could you describe more precisely how it's drawn crappily?
Anatomy:
- Anatomical relations between the arms and the torso
- Lack of consistent construction or "modelling" of the body
Lighting:
- Completely surrealist shadowing
- Lack of high contrasts, which would occur in such a bright scene (HINT: Your penguin drawing, on the other hand is nicely contrasted, especially in the lower part of the Tommy Gun's drum)
- The character isn't one with the background, its lack of modelling, proper depth by shading and position in regard of the background makes it look like a sticker.
I could never do something gloomy or more Fallout
Um. Fallout is gloomy in its genre, as is post apoc in general... Why would you do a Fallout wallpaper for a month, at the same time not making it "fallouty" on purpose?
