Vera Keyes Was Apparently Going to be a Ghoul

Wept for Zion
While browing the Fallout wiki today, I came across the Vera Keyes page and decided to have a look to see if I could learn anything more about her background.

It turns out at one point in development, she was going to be a ghoul and not a skeleton. Whether this means an alive ghoul or a dead ghoul, I'm not certain. There's a model for her ghoul form and everything though: http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net...test/scale-to-width-down/65?cb=20110315201126

If Vera Keyes did turn out alive but as a ghoul, do you think this would have detracted from the overall experience? Actually it probably would've ruined it considering her voice was needed to open the vault in the first place, and if she was still alive, well, there'd be no need for Christine now would there? Elijah could've just taken the real Vera Keyes. Hell, Vera probably would've opened the vault herself a long time ago.

It would have detracted from the experience. That was one of the most interesting parts of the story.

She wasn't going to be a Ghoul that is just the Beta version of the corpse. They have said this already, ultimately they went with a skeleton because otherwise it wouldn't make sense, they managed to get a Skeleton NPC by turning the Skeleton appereance into a clothing item (You can "devour" the skeleton if you have Cannibal or shoot it to gibs if you have bloody mess) and they used the same technique later for the Trauma Harnesses in OWB. I think the Ghoul general in LR was also a beta version of the corpse but for some reason they never got to replacing him with a skeleton.

Yea, like Walpknut said it was just a beta placeholder. Theres loads of NPCs like that who just exist for testing or like in Point Lookout hide a character who is speaking.
Its much better keeping her a Skeleton anyway. Shes supposed to be very beautiful and Bethesda's shitty Gamebryo Engine =/= Beauty.

Even Ron Perlman has a placeholder character

Funny coincidence, I just finished Dead Money in my n-th re-play of New Vegas
