Veronica is too strong.

First time out of the vault
When I saw her, being a female and having unarmed skill, I didn't expect much. But now she doesn't give me a chance to draw my weapon. She kills everything by the time I reloaded my weapon. She is faster than my bullet.

At least Boone gave me some chances to shoot something.

Is veronica this strong to you too?

I think companions are strong in this order:

Veronica>Boone>Cassidy>Ed-E=Rex

I didn't play the grandma and raul.

Try fighting melee specialists like cazas and praetorians. They will kill her. I actually lost her to a couple of praets. Punched her head straight off, and she was in full powered armor.

The only time my companions one shot stuff is if I'm just fooling around on very easy.

I agree Veronica is way too tough. I found a mod someone had put together on the Nexus that reduced Veronica's power fist to spiked knuckles (and boones sniper rifle to a hunting rifle). Small change but appropriate i think.

So maybe enable very hard and hardcore at start?

This will actually make the companion situation worse as it will make you take 200% more damage but NOT your companions. I play VH always and feel like taking veronica is cheating sometimes.

You can choose what equipment your companions use as long as it's better than their default weapon. I'd say Melee characters are OP in general.

I'm pretty sure men and women in Fallout have no difference in how high their skills can be.

That being said, all of the companions can be overpowered at times--it's a miracle that you get XP for their kills. On the upside their strength can be perceived as kind of a challenge, to make yourself more alert and react faster than them.

Veronica was always my #1 companion mainly because she was an easy way into the BoS and shes amusing but I'd say she is overpowered. Her melee is supposed to be a drawback (I'm guessing) because she has to get close but she is far too powerful.

>Be me
>Be traveling with Veronica and ED-E
>On my to Lake Mead
>Pass by Camp Golf
>NCR Veteran Rangers appear (Vilified by NCR)
>Want their bitchin armor
>Realize I have like 20 health left
>Set Veronica to "Be Aggressive"
> Hide behind a tree
>Watch Veronica 3 shot each ranger
>Take their armor, feel like a badass
> Fall 5 feet off a boulder
>Break legs
>Die
>War...War Never Changes

Are you afraid of a strong, gay, independent woman? Most of her enemies are, that's how she kills them.

I find my character too strong. Mostly because I hardly travel with companions and if I do, it is because I play a ranged, critical-based courier.

Hey, it could be worse.
You could be everything-based mary sue like character having 10 in every SPECIAL stat. :p
I was joking. People complain that Veronica is too strong, but the player can be stronger.

I've never had this problem. Usually I find she sits uselessly in Sneak mode with an outraged expression while ED-E and I are caught in a firefight; but every once in a while she manages to punch a Legionary Assassin's head clean off, so I guess she earns her keep.

If you want to see an overpowered companion, give Cass an Assault Carbine or a Minigun with a ton of ammo.

Boone is the one that gets overpowered to me specially in combination with ED-E, he sometimes kills enemies before you even realize they are there, who hasn't had a mini heart attack when the camera suddenly focuses on some dude's head blowing up (with killcam on) just to realize inmediatelly that Boone just killed a hapless Viper dude.

SOMETIMES? I looked forward to finishing Boone's quest so I could permanently park him in the Lucky 38 because he kept stealing all my kills and removing any of the fun of getting jumped and surprised all the time. Only times I ever found him to be a danger to us both was when I was meticulously wiping out the Deathclaws on the road near Quarry Junction, cause I like to do this well before I'm "the right level" to do so, and Boone just doesn't have the programming to realize that backpedaling would be in his best interests. But, the rest of the time..... yeah, "sometimes" is a BIT of an understatement.
