Go Razor19-1-1, show Microsoft that we shall not succumb! :D

But yeah guys, I saw this coming a mile away. I'm just glad I won't have to install that heap of shit known as Vista to play any games they locked into that operating system. DDD said before that Halo 2 looks like a game that's four years old, and it sure as hell doesn't need Vista to run a four year old game.

Another group is doing a similar thing to Halo2, but I think theirs is more legit, I believe they are translating the libraries to make Halo2 playable in XP.

Doesn't surprise me, tho'. I don't think there's anything preventing people from adapting DX10 to XP completely.

The libraries are already done.

I'm about to playtest Halo 2 in about 10 minutes.

Edit: Well, shit. Everything DDD said about Halo 2 is absolutely true, down to the last detail.

The FOV, the crosshair, the inability to map your own keys, the shoddy performance (I've got a system WAY overqualified for this game), everything. :(

Hahahah, why did you buy it? The only reason to play that game is if you played it four years ago, on XBOX, with a bunch of friends.

How'd you manage to play Halo2 on XP Dark Legacy? I must admit, I'm a little bit of a technical noob and the only libraries I know are the ones at Uni.

ugh... Halo 2 is the last game i'd ever buy an operating system for.

it reminds me of the crappy port that Resident Evil 4 was. i wonder how these mofos get away with this... someone should sue them or something.

haha, oho, wow

the thing that really annoys me is DirectX10 vista only policy - but i'm happy seeing that this is getting screwed over :) ... a lot of companies who announced DX10 games have either announced support for Dx9 or totally abandonned DX10 ... :) i couldnt care less for halo 2 - played a bit on the console but the thing you notice fast especially if you are a PC FPS vet :P is that the whole game is designed for the console ... as in very flat very level design straight forward dosed action etc.

Well radnan, I would say "no shit" that the thing you notice when playing the game is that it was designed for the console, seeing as it was designed for the console.

I understand that you people don't like that DX10 is Vista only, but it's Microsoft's property and they like making money.

I actually bought Halo 2 because I never owned an XBOX. I never played the campaign. I didn't feel it was worth purchasing an extra miniATX computer to connect in my living room, and struggle with a horrible horrible control interface known as the XBOX controller. I've already got an excellent computer capable of running 40 copies of the game, as well as the best interface that currently exists for gaming - the traditional mouse and keyboard. Fallout used it, so we know it's true.

As for other reasons; I played it once at a friend's house. They were having a barbeque, we were bored waiting, booted it up and played some multiplayer maps. Needless to say, I felt like I was a NBA athlete strapped to a wheelchair, forced to play wheelchair basketball. (Why doesn't he turn? God damn!)

We also attempted to play the first mission on Legendary and kept getting creamed horribly.

Yesterday night, I played about 15 minutes in Legendary, I didn't even get hit once, and I've only been using the dual UZIs, and holding down the fire buttons. Had to stop because it wasn't entertaining enough to be worthy struggling against sleep. :|

Aforementioned issues with crosshair, FOV, etc.

Quake 2 looks better than this.

(Loving those facial textures and teeth, worse than Doom3.)

You're totally right. The graphics for this game vs performance are atrocious. I should be seeing a framerate in the triple digits, yet it's sticking to an average of 40 FPS. An average of 40 FPS on my machine is playing Gothic 3 with maximum settings.

My thoughts eggzactly.

Play Half-Life in story mode if you want to.

Isn't there anything recommendable about Halo 2?

I would like to play that game as I love Sci-Fi FPS games and I already played Half Life 2.

As I said before, it was fun four years ago on xbox with a bunch of friends, while under the influence. Otherwise, it is pretty much without merit.

Half Life 2 and Halo don't even compare.

It's like, 40 year old aged red wine and Mott's grape juice.

the thing that made the first halo good was the coop (played it for hours with my brother), but mostly it was the fact that it was a launch game in a time where people were used to FPS' on the n64 and playstation, so it was actually a step up for most people. But if you had been playing games on a pc at all you knew it just wasn't up to chuff at all and it never has been.
