War of the Worlds

It Wandered In From the Wastes
Hey I just thought this new movie would fit in pretty well with the whole Fallout scene as part of the movie is pretty much post-apoc. Anyhow I think this movie has a lot going for it. 1. Its being directed by Steven Spielberg one of the best directors all time! 2. It's got some pretty good actors in it. and 3. Its supposodly the most expensive movie ever made, thats what I heard anyhow. Is anyone else excited about seein it? I know I am! :D

I haven't done thorough research but I would expect it to be bad if it is a blockbuster starring Tom Cruise. I'll wait for reviews and probably wait for it to come out on DVD.

I'm sure I'll go to see this, because several of my friends are extras, but I don't expect anything besides popcorn entertainment.

This may sound corny but I've always wanted to be an extra in a zombie flick lol. I'm the biggest zombie fan ever :P I have 13 different zombie movies as well as different zombie collectible stuff haha. I think it'd be neat to be an extra tho either way :).

And when you tire of the cameraman trying to fit the wide-angle up Cruise's ass, Earth's germs come to relieve us from what may be the latest of Hollywood's butcherings. I seriously doubt it will seriously flop, but I have noticed a disturbing trend of movies with Cruise "reinventing" old roles.

They typically SUCK ASS.

I guess I don't hate or despise Cruise. I do however find it funny that they made him a porn start in Fallout, I know this isn't the right forum but I couldn't help it lol. Juan Cruz right? lol. Anyhow hopefully it'll be a great movie a not a waste.

Some of the remakes these days like Dawn of the Dead have been pretty good and other such as "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" (sure it was a series) don't live up to the previous films standards. Either way, we can only hope!

Actually, what I said was "'reinventing' old roles", which isn't quite the same as movie remakes. In this regard, both craptacular MI movies are also included. Three, if you count the likely turd in pre-production. I really don't see how they could skullfuck the franchise any lower, but they have been succeeding so far with each movie.

MI was okay
MI:2 was more horrible than Jebus with PMS.

And what's with all the recent Bond films? Doesn't anyone sneak around anymore? Or do all spies have to blow shit up (R) now?

I guess I don't mind Tom Cruise, least hes better than Paris Hilton. All she has going for her is her looks unfortunately :S.

HH, you have any reason for thinking War of the Worlds will be a 'turd' other then your propensity towards disliking things? I've read reviews in Newsweek and Time, they where positive.

1. and 3. are exactly the reasons it's probably going to suck.
Also, Dakota Fanning > Tom Cruise.

I guess I'm a fan of Spielberg, overall I think most of his movies are pretty good. I can't think of any recent ones that I haven't not like. Who knows, his movies tend to be more sentimental sci-fi if that makes sense? Rather than destructive "everyone dies" sci-fi. I guess I prefer both, i'm not to picky.
