Wasteland 2 Kickstarter Drive ends, $3.04M raised

The Wasteland 2 Kickstarter Drive just ended, closing in at $2,933,147. The Paypal Drive (which will not close until later today for the Johnny-come-latelies among us) adds $107,152. This puts the total funds raised at $3,040,299.

While Wasteland 2 did not end up beating Double Fine Adventures, it raised significantly more than most of us were predicting beforehand. It has hit all of the funding goals it set for itself, and because of that added Linux and Mac versions, Russian and Polish localizations, Chris Avellone design, Obsidian tools and a modkit to its development goals.

Well done, everyone!

Congratulations Fargo and every person involved in the process. These were amazing 2 months for me. First DF and now InXile. The only thing left is to fund Shadowrun rpg, although it already went over $1mil, they still need all the love they can get.

Happy days are here again. :)

Good times! Glad I have gotten to be a part of this event.

It's been 7 whole minutes now.

WHY AM I NOT PLAYING WASTELAND 2?!

8-)

Seriously, glad to have been a part of this (did the 50$ tier) and I'm in the 60$ tier for Shadowrun.

You want classic CRPGs to come back in this sea of action shooter "rpgs" you gotta put your money where your mouth it.

Is it wrong that I secretly hope for an easter egg cross over in each game? Desert Ranger cameo in a bar in Shadowrun. Finding a non-functioning cyberdeck in Wasteland 2. Y'know, non-gameplay related, very minor, just a nod to each respective franchise. I know it wont happen, but my cyber-post-apocalypse-punk-runner-ranger mind can dream!

In 20 years, we'll be able to tell our children: "I've been part of history. I helped make this game happen".

And if the game is bad, we'll all feel guilty for the rest of our lives :D

Paypal still growin a bit

Wouldn't be surprised if it grows more. After all, it is unrelated to Kickstarter and won't close except if inXile takes the site down.

I'd say they should keep it open and let additional money come, if additional money wants to come. It's like generic pre-order now.

I suggested the same back when, but they want to finalize the budget. The trickle from paypal would just add too much of a headache for the money coming in. They're closing it, likely today.

Congratz everyone.
My initial prediction was 1,1 milion so I'm very pleased by this campaign.
Time to sleep for some of us i guess.

Awesome, awesome news!

Thank you everyone for helping me help fund wasteland! ;)

But seriously, congratulations everyone, we did it! Thanks to Brian Fargo, every gaming news source that promoted/wrote about this, Kickstarter, and every single one of you donating! I'm not one to put the horse before the carriage, but even if the concept of game fan funding stops with these few games, we still proved that good games don't always need publishers, and that alone changed gaming history forever.

Again, thank you and congrats people.

On a side note, if Fargo going to promote this game at all? Such as gaming media previews/gaming expo appearances? I know he mentioned that he doesn't want to put any money into PR, but does that mean marketing is out as well?

More or less, yes. Preview copies, interviews, that kind of stuff, yes, doesn't cost money, just Fargo's time (and Fargo's time is free :P). Getting a stand at game expos, ads in magazines/sites, all that kind of bullshit? Hell no.

What an incredible journey that all was. I'm proud to be a backer.

I'm also looking forward to watching development unfold over the next 12 months. :)

I admit I was skeptical it would even raise the $900,000 Fargo asked initially. This has been a hell of a ride.

I was in a similar boat because of how Takedown was doing at the time. Regardless I'm really happy for those guys, glad I was wrong!
