Wasteland 2's Facebook page talks about the upcoming video update, specifically why it's not here yet.
The Wasteland 2 game play video is almost ready to be captured! Always some snags when so much content goes in but we are on it! Plus we wanted to polish a few things to give it a little more sizzle. We need to have a few more meetings this week for everyone to sign off on their parts. Hang in there....its imminent.
Brian Fargo lets us know on twitter that it "feels like" next week. He also explains it will not be touched up and will be available to everyone.
I can't wait to get our video game play demo into your hands. It's looking super strong with lots of detail. Feels like next week for that.
And finally, the Facebook page also features this image with the text "The Red Skorpion militia do NOT like the Desert Rangers."

Over on the official forums, senior environment artist Koy vanOteghem talks about the progress of the Crowdsourced Unity Asset experiment.
I am very happy to announce I bought our first batch of assets off the store today. Still waiting for a few more to trickle in, and then we will be announcing our "Pick-of-the-Litter" for each category. Great job, and thanks to so many of you for including our badges on your pics

There are a few that will require me to upgrade my Unity first, so those purchases are coming. Just waiting to get past our current top secret efforts to upgrade, so as to avoid blowing everything up.

And so, I conclude this announcement with a hearty thank you, and some hand clapping that this all actually worked, finally!!!

And in true form, got a round of Batch 3 in today, looks like you all are not going to give me a moments rest.

Back to the grindstone...
Searching for "Wasteland" in the Asset Store turns up a bunch of items with the "as seen in Wasteland 2" badge. Here's a list of what turned up on my search (not necessarily a complete list), to give people an idea of the type of assets being selected. Note they often pick up multiples of the same asset when the models add enough variety and flavor to the game world.

Satellite Dish/Communication Tower
Wasteland 2 Turret
Wasteland Water Tower
Wasteland Water Tower
Dilapidated Car
Shanty Shack Pack
Sandstone Rocks
Rocks Pack
Desert Sandstone
Weathered Bike
Bike and Rack Set
Old Flatbed Train Car
Bicycle and Rack
Dilapidated Car
WCE - Turret
WCE - Bicycle
Old Satellite Dish
Water Tower

The is all from Batch 1, with Batch 2 currently being processed. Batch 3 - asking people to convert robots from the original - seems to be going pretty well from examples posted on their forums, for example this Slicer Dicer model. I personally quite like the Titanium Clawers that vary from a very industrial-looking one to sleek-looking futuristic (and another one).

One thing I can't stand is the cartoony look of the graphics. I want gritty realism, blood & gore. Not little cute water towers and suchs.

I guess you can't expect a dark theme where the sun is always shining.

ФАЙЛ means file. Heh.

I've gathered all the pics of approved models in one place.
Good job. I was way too lazy to do that, haha.

I like a lot of em. Some not so much. Do remember Wasteland is a lot less gritty than Fallout. And also remember a top-down camera necessitates more exaggerated proportions.

You'll get a better look at the style with the upcoming video. These assets are not that good to get a complete look from, not in the least because they weren't made internally.

Eh, going from the screenshots I actually get the impression that Wasteland 2 features a more realistic sense of scale, anyway? Compared to Fallout. And I'm sure that in the right context all of those assets will look fine (and will be edited if they don't).

Then wait until you see the video.

Some bits from MCA

Heading to inXile today to play some of Wasteland 2. Pretty stoked.
...
Wasteland 2 looks awesome, love how the first area turned out.
...
It was awesome. The environments and monsters look great, and the text/combat text was pretty damn funny. Very Wasteland.
...
Fallout 1 and 2 is the closest comparison, even that's not 100% of what it is - it should be clear when they show the footage.

Fargo is really clever. MCA playing Wasteland 2 demo is best thing I could imagine for Torment kickstarter video. Assuming W2 looks good already.

I think one of the reasons they're delaying the video is to get it looking more finalized than the WIP shots and finally put this 'cartoony' criticism to bed.

I'm kind of surprised that people are concerned about a slightly cartoony look from a franchise that has vicious bunnies, nuns with guns, Hobos drinking Snake Squeezins, a Red Ryder BB Gun, Toaster Repair and tons of other corny things like that.

Red Skorpion militia are gunna get one hell of an RPG blast up their ass. Why does this game keep sounding better with every new release?

On a random graphic web surf and instantly associated this black with white with Red Skorpion Militia stenciled logo.

Panda Akimbo!

May be a conceptual trip wire on the effectiveness, where less can be more, of WL 2 conceptual art.
