Well, I liked Crysis purely because of the graphics. I must say I'm kinda disappointed that in both games towards the end they decided to introduce mutated monkeys/aliens. Fighting Koreans and mercenaries was far more realistic and fun.
What I liked about Far Cry is that although it was linear, it actually managed to give an illusion of freedom and alternate solutions. Crysis, not so much.
I liked the aliens in Crysis 1

Well, the problem was that they drew a fairly 'realistic' (less fantasy) image of US Spec Ops fighting Koreans to save some American hostages. When the aliens appeared, I didn't feel tied to the setting that much anymore.
