Anyone here seen "the Take"? It's an interesting little documentary about worker controlled factories in Argentina after the debt default. Anyway, the ideas about worker (or designer) controlled corporations running a smoother, more responsive machine seems to come through. Problem is, we're capitalist. Good or bad, that's gonna prevent any sort or company operating from the bottom up. I read this after posting in the RPG thread, and I used the same example of the film industry. We can just hope that the game industry evolves to a similar point where small independents can make their own games how they want. I particularly liked the point about xenophobia, rather interesting to think about the way gamers interact with the rest of the world, particularly a sort of holier-than-thou thought that gamers are better and smarter than the rest of the world. If you're gonna throw out such radical ideas as re-forming work in our society, you might want some help outside the gaming industry....
