You are absolutely right. That's why today I'm propaganding against real-life weapons in Fallout.

Nobody is trying to make Fallout THIS realistic. In fact, a lot of people complained when working game weapons named after real life prototypes did not act exactly like the real things.
The realism trend is the worst thing since the fall of prices on 3D-accelerators that greatly increased the number of very pretty, but very shallow games. Realism, however, is often a necessary evil in a good game. Fallout 1 had .233 caliber and 12-gauge shells, and that didn't hurt it at all. Fallout 2 had SHITLOADS of real-life weapons, and sometimes I felt that the Black Isle wanted to turn Fallout 2 into a history weapons encyclopedy...
