what about troika buying FO3???!!!

It Wandered In From the Wastes
ok, it is probably been dissected here-but why can't troika buy FO3, now that they practically sacked all BIS team, they can move for troika, sell thier shitt-meaning the half made FO3, to them-and probably some of them can join with troika.. so that tim cain would be with the gang again, i know this is kinda lame asking for FO3 when alot of people lost thier jobs, but that doesn't mean they won't find a new job soon-BIS isn't an annonymous company... and troika is sorta new team....i think its a good blow for interplay if BIS joined with troika, to release thier own games..insted of console games for kids.

i know i'm sounding really stupid..but why?

as long as interplay will continue with F:POS, the Fallout licence will be their's and no Fallout 3 for us...so let's hope they meet banktrupcy soon and sell their licence to a more responsible game development company.

The BIS devs could go over the Troika now, sure enough, but Fallout 3 can not. "The game" for obvious reasons can not, the engine is Interplay's and can't just be used by Troika. The license won't be sold either, it's the only license Interplay has that they can exploit.

When Interplay goes bankrupt (soon enough now), they'll prolly take the license with them too, meaning it gets locked up for a long, long time...

I don't know... how many other companies did that? The execs might sell off the license to put together a severance package for themselves. 3D0 did it with the Might and Magic series.

Stampedes right. People are a lot more greedy than you give them credit for.

Troika or Nival assisted with BIS guys should finish the job IMO. Nival did such a great job with Silent Storm. They´d just change the name... Both of those companies have good enough engines. The dying IPLY should sell whatever it can as it has done so far. I´m talking about all the stuff BIS had done so far fo F3. Maybe far fetched but after seeing those screenies, I´m like, gotta have this, one way or the other. Looks amazingly like the original despite polygons.

Some kind of super coalition between Troika, Obsidian and with Nival helping with the graphics and the combat, Blizzard people working on movies and their QA team handling the bug testing. During development all the marketing + management people are bound and gagged in the basement. The whole thing financed by a wealthy philanthropist Fallout who couldn't give a rat's ass about profits. If I can dream, why not dream big?

EDIT: Bad speling

And comes out for PC only!
No seXbox
No Gaystation
No Nintendo Game Boob!
Hah I hate consoles :)

I'm not so sure about this...Troika's recent games, ToEE and Arcanum haven't been that great

True, but it's a logical choice. Tim Cain and other Troika members did work on both Fallouts, after all. And I remember reading an interview for Arcanum that Mr. Cain expressed interest in buying the Fallout liscense.

And remember, both ToEE and Arcanum were budget titles. Arcanum, being the first game for Troika, was praised as that year's best RPG. Of course, it wouldn't have likely received that praise if games such as Dungeon Siege or Morrowind were released the same year but they lucked out. And ToEE was made from a completely scrapped game (Mr. Cain alluded that it was meant to be a LOTR games since it could especially handle short, furry footed characters). I'd wait for Troika's Vampires: The Masquerade, a first-person RPG using the Half-Life 2 engine, before judging the full potential of the company.

- End of Rant from a Troika (non-rabid) fanboy.

Well..that would be cool .
Arcanum was great RPG..and ToEE while having a lot of problems was still a very good dungeon-crawl(I certainly enjoyed it more than Diablo2 or DungeonSiege). Plus the combat system rocked. Heh..imagine Arcanum with ToEE`s graphics and combat system :)

Anyway...Troika might be making their own post apocalyptic RPG. ToEE team is free now..and ChrisGlenn(Conceptual Designer / 3D Artist on ToEE) has been posting works like this

on his http://www.cglenn.com site. Plus those pics are acompanied by ":: Series of concepts revolving around a barren location. Can't say too much about it. " text. Looks like some unnanouced Troika project. It`s not Falloutish(more Dune like)..but still looks promising and maybe we will have some decent RPG to look forward to :)

Tim Cain once tried to get the licence, but he was turned down, since Interplay wanted to do Fallout3 themselves.

He`s now interested again, but they needed a publisher to get them the rights, since they can`t afford them right now.

Maybe he should try with UbiSoft..they lately have been quite good for niche titles(they ressurected SSI line, bought Might and Magic rights....they canceled Harpoon4..but are willing to give it to community to finish it)

Couldn't somebody just kill all employees, members, owners etc of Interplay and claim licence.I mean,if they are all dead it wouldn't matter who'd take FO3.I swear,I'd try to kill them by myself if only i had some skill with guns in real life

How much would a license like Fallout cost? Several hundred thousand dollars? How many extra designers, programmers, or artists could be hired for that amount to make adecent game? Just something to think about.

Is there any chance he gets the licence now? What about the half made FO, what would happen to it?

He has stated clearly, recently, that Troika cannot afford to buy the Fallout license, and the only way for Troika to get it is if a publisher offered them the chance to make a FO game. Carsten from the Silverstyle boards has said he would be open to working with Tim/Troika if they acquired the FO license, how this would work I don't know.

ubi soft , arg..pool of radiance -another awesome potential game, lost in the slowness of skeletal animations and lack of decent beta people...but they had some other succesful title though.

btw-there are no other post apoc rpg's besides fallouts?

There is a precedent that Interplay will sell the rights to certain games that they will not finish, but I don't think they will sell the Van Buren code, so whoever gets the rights will have to start form scratch.

btw rikus, check out The Fall, or Trinity. Both look really promising.

But not Fallout.
