What Fallout Drug Would You Like to Try in Real Life?

Mentats. Figuring out the mysteries of life? COUNT ME IN!

You never ate schrooms?

Everyone should eat a bag of schrooms at least once in their lifetime.

I would start trying out mentats and jet but I'm pretty sure I would try them all eventually. Except psycho, that stuff seems disastrous.

Believe or not I have' tried all major kinds of real world drugs and many research drugs as well in last 9 or 10 yrs since age of 17, I'm 26 now and I have stopped completely for more than a year, don't think I will get back to them ever again due to starting work, simply too busy to get myself wasted these days, plus, after a decade of party life, you simply feel you have out-lived that stage. LoL

Anyway, Buffout sounds like Ecstasy/MDMA to me

Jet is absolutely Crack or Crystal Meth, the most dirty shit on the face of planet!

Turbo is definitely something like N2O/Laughing Gas, great party stuff!

Med-X seems like Heroine, it also appears as a needle in game

I seriously don't know about Mentats, I've never tried anything in real life that gives me intelligence, they all bang your head in one way or another and takes years to recovery

Psycho is another mystery, closest thing comes to my mind is Acid/LSD, but still drastically different, unlike LSD, Psycho doesn't give you any visual hallucinations, and unlike LSD, psycho seems highly addicative while LSD has no addiction at all (yes, you heard me, LSD is in fact the only known major drug in this world with ZERO addiction), also, Psycho appears as something injection while LSD is oral, I sincerely doubt if there is something in real world like Psycho, which makes you a super soldier

Mentats would be pretty cool. Not sure I'd like feeling 'normal' after they wear off though...

Jet? If we're going off the 1 and 2 no way, I don't aim to ruin my life just by looking at the stuff.

Also, how come no one's mentioned Rotgut? That has to count as a drug.

Definitely Psycho. Adderal isn't all it's cracked up to be, I've had a bad experience with meth, and I don't usually pop pills due to their unpredictable effects.

I've never partaken myself, but I've known plenty of e-tards and I've never seen one of them have that sort of reaction. Futuristic steroids are more the intent, there. In Fallout's pre-apocalypse world of SCIENCE!, with its naive faith in drugs and chemicals ushering in a safe and convenient means for transcending human limitations, I think Buffout was just supposed to be quick-and-easy corner store performance enhancement. (See also: Mentats.)

Correct, sir. Inhalant methamphetamine, as confirmed in Fallout 2.

It's morphine, actually. You can still even see the original name for it when you go in to edit the game files. Bethesda/Obsidian fictionalized it in reaction to censors crying foul.

Like I said under "Buffout," a convenient futuristic pick-me-up from your local pharmacist. Many fans equate Mentats with the focus-enhancing drug Adderall, prescribed for ADHD and commonly abused on college campuses as a study aid.

Psycho is a tailored combat drug so there aren't any direct real-world analogues that I know of, but it seems like it would be in the same family as angel dust/PCP. If you're not familiar with it, it essentially turns you into an angry, insane Terminator.

Turbo + rushing water up in this mother. Those fools won't know what hit 'em, and neither will I.

Mentats, because they can't be that bad. I mean, they were a prize for kids at the National Archives, am I right? No one would ever do anything bad to kids, am I right?

It was from Fo3, so don't looks for logic there.

Mentats, no doubt. That would be an interesting trip.
As far as drugs go in real life I would maybe one time try weed.
So I'm a pussy when it comes to real drugs too, means I wouldn't want to even touch any drugs from the psychotic Fallout universe.
Besides aforementioned Mentats. Too interesting not to.

I always thought psycho was meth. It was used to increase productivity in soldiers, and the effects of psycho do sound a lot like what meth does to you.

Assuming that for the purposes of this thought experiment, the drugs both:
1) have no addictive properties (as the OP suggested)
2) behave in every other way just like the drugs in Fallout 1/Fallout 2 do

I'd have to say Mentats. Those who say it's just Adderall with a different name, Adderall doesn't reliably act as a large boon to your intellect -- it may improve your concentration, but the fantasy drug in the game (in my opinion) has a much stronger effect according to its canon. It also doesn't seem to cause any other adverse effects aside from being highly addictive, and I'm ignoring that for the purposes of the OP's question.

There are just no real drugs that do what Mentats could do, and for that reason I'd love to try me some fantasy brain pills.
