Nothing really.[spoiler:d113e8451e] Just a shorter quest where you need to take out the Van Graffs. Whereas if you help the current elder, you have to find the dead brotherhood patrols then find the alive brotherhood patrols and then find parts to fix the bunker.

Going with Hardin is simply a shortcut way of getting the key to their safehouse and getting to the rank of paladin. However, you might not end up with the "liked" rep with the BoS.[/spoiler:d113e8451e]

Tokk when Hardin took over for me he had like one or two quests for me and that was that pretty much. It was kind of dumb but keeping them on lockdown is a sure fire way for them to eventually die out.

Your ending will be slightly different. Also, if you're playing the NCR line, Hardin makes NCR-BOS treaty impossible.
