I'm still waiting for Bush to Palpatine our asses. I've been hearing that he's been planning to do this for a long time, and it seems time is running out for him to do such a thing. So it must be imminent.

He's got time. All that needs to happen is a fresh tragedy perpetuated by some rebels... er.. terrorists.. on American soil and for Bush to say, "People, we cannot switch administrations in the middle of an emergency, we'll put off the swearing in for a few months until everything is under control." Next thing you know, ten years down the road we're all part of a new galactic empire with a horribly disfigured, black cloak wearing George Bush at the head of it. Or something like that.

You give an awful lot of credit towards Bush. Dick Cheney has more of the Palpatine look about him.

I'm not giving him any credit. I'm laughing at people who have been saying since day-one that Bush was going to dictator-for-life our asses. Apparently, he was really stupid except when it comes to masterful plots of taking over a superpower protected by a military which upholds the constitution of said superpower. Go figure.

But yeah, Cheney does have a sinister laugh and wants to cheat death.

Well. Seems a monument connected to the iraqi peoples view of bush has been raised in iraq. Picture says it all really.

this is real, yes.

some artist made it and unveiled it in Tikrit (Saddam's old home town).

well I am not a US. And Considering all the fun around Bush ... it might actualy be true if you think about it.

Man, whatever you say about Bush, you can't say the man does not know how to dodge. He's pretty lucky that guy only threw two shoes at him, if he threw grenades, I would like to see him dodge that.

Is this for real or just a joke ?

fortunately, yes it is real... Unfortunately, it was just dismantled.

Muntadar al-Zaidi - you sir win a gold Curran for most inventive way of insulting an un-insultable buffoon. I do hope that his trial is called off and he is freed... After all if fracking Scooter gets a walk, why the hell not Muntandar?

Since his arrest, the TV journalist has reportedly been beaten in custody, suffering a broken arm, broken ribs and internal bleeding.

He has been charged with aggression against a foreign head of state, and faces up to 15 years in jail if convicted. His family denies he has done anything wrong.

So much to the "free world" and "democracy" yeah ... just beat the shit out of people in jail. Exactly ...

I don't doubt that he has received poor treatment... One would think that most US troops there would have given him a pat on the back when no one was looking though.

Again, you've got to appreciate the irony that Scooter Libby and Bush get to pass "Go" and collect their 200$ while Muntadar sits in the jail that he may not make it out of alive.

The irony might be that he has been beaten hard by Iraqi guards. Not every Iraqi prison is run by US troops.

If you ask me the Iraqi gouvernement is just another by the US "supported" institution as how it happend in South Vietnam, South Korea and Cuba before the revolution.
