What if Abramovitch liked FO and purchased FO3 franchise?

Look, Ma! Two Heads!
I mean instead of wasting the Russian people's money by buying chelseas and luxury yachts, I'd want to imagine, what would FO3 be if Abramovitch or any other similar Russian oligarchs would have liked the original FO? :)

what would he need FO for?

Abramovich doesn't live in Russia, though.

Actually it's not a completely crazy point. Private ownership of franchises doesn't happen a lot, but what it crazies about a millionaire buying his favourite franchise than a millionaire buying his favourite football club?

I have been thinking sometimes how great it would be to be incredible rich and then buying the rights to things you really like.

If I scored it rich I'd probably immediately bought up the Fallout franchise from Zenimax, probably would have to pay double what they paid for it but I don't mind.

Then I would get Obsidian to finish Van Buren and make it properly, if they decided to release it afterwards, okay but I am mainly doing it for myself.

If I was incredible rich I would buy Fallout and Troika and a proper licence from Steve Jackson's Games and I would gather the the old Fallout team to make Fallout 3 based on GURPS and Fallout 1 and 2 remakes based on GURPS.

He'd then grab TeamX to create the new Fallout 3 using Van Buren assets.

One can dream...

Another of your half-assed theories? Steve Jackon's Games already denied the GURPS licence to Fallout once, and ain't gonna give it back.

None of this is going to happen, so why discuss a situation like "if I had a magic wand...." or "what would I do with my 3 wishes" ?

Whats so great about GURPS anyway(looks around to see if he invoked nerd rage)?
I mean really, it was meant for tabletop gaming, despite being used frequently in cRPGs.
I always figured anyone who could code a multi-million dollar computer game, could easily come up with their own RPG system.
Despite this, I have seen D20 used in Neverwinter Knights and Nights of The Old Republic, and I think Gurps was used in Arcanum.

GURPS was used only in Autoduel and it was never faithfully recreated in computer game.

What's so great about it?
Unlike SPECIAL it has 20 years of development behind it and has richer and more realistic rules with more control over character in combat.

They can come up with their own system, but have limited time for balancing and development.

That's because the game settings are tied to D20 system. Also, trying to make a D&D setting game without D&D would put off some fans of those settings.
