What if... (Arcanum 2)

I'd like an Arcanum remake (don't kill me) made by Blizzard, with ONLY updated graphics and improved combat system - something was out of place in comparison to Fallout... don't know what it is, but something just didn't feel right...

Yes, Blizzard. No other company can be trusted these days - and even then, there's the Activision factor now...

you know...any game with a deep dark mysterious plot would do.It doesn't need to be arcanum.but i guess only the guys from troika could create such a thing.because for me the most important thing is always the plot and story of the game.

Dear god, let this be a joke.

Dude, they're making Diablo 3 true to the franchise, unlike Beth which is raping Fallout...

Fusion with Activision is likely to bring trouble in the future, but...

Yes it sounds good when you say it like that but there are two things to consider:

1) Diablo sucks. Reshaping the series could only be good
2) They're not doing it for the fans, they're just lazy

You probably think Warcraft sucks, too. In that case, your problem is not with company, but with it's games.

The fact is: people who like Blizzard games are almost never disappointed, and they stay true to franchises a lot more than other companies. I'm sure if they got Arcanum they would do it isometric, turn based, not and FPS-RPG hybrid.

And true to the "steamworks and Magik", or whatever the style of the game is (I know what is is, just don't remember the damn name).

Finally, it's not about fans or lazyness, it's about money. But at least they put 1 comunity manager at each big Diablo 3 forum and actually change a few stuff in the project while it's still in development.

I actually agree. Blizzard could probably make a decent Arcanum game.

I just hope they don't.

I think that Blizzard very wisely focuses on what they do best. RTS's and Hack 'n Slash games (and that other little thing on the side... some kind of MMO).

They have considered branching out (see Warcraft Adventures, and Starcraft: Ghost) but these have never seen the light of day.

I don't think that they'd do well outside of their comfort zone. Same as how Beth can't make games other than the TES style of games.

god please, not another horrible sequel, I absolutely adore Arcanum, and if that game were to be shit on once again by out of original other's hands..."benefactors". Then it would just mean another (now series) ruined.

yup...with Leonard Boyarsky being the lead designer, maybe they could make something like arcanum.but i am just happy to see that Leo is working on Diablo 3 right now.

Same here. Today, I've even bought Diablo 2 and the expansion pack to get into the right mood for Diablo 3. It's the only game I'm looking forward to for the moment.

Don't like RTS, alec? If you do, it would be in your interest to look forward to Dawn of War 2, the RTS revolution :)

IMO, RTS games stopped being good after Age of Empires 2. I bought so many bad RTS games after that (Perimeter comes to mind, I dunno why), that I just gave up.

I've actually made a 180° return to the good ol' days and have started buying second hand CYOA books and gamebooks. Now that's fun. I'm currently reading/playing the Freeway Warrior series by Joe Dever and I haven't had so much fun since discovering Fallout. Those FW gamebooks rock and each and every Fallout fan should have them. I'm going to read all four of them in a row and I'm sure it'll be a blast.

I'll buy D3 because Boyarski is involved and because it's isometric, but it's safe to say that my gaming days are pretty much over and done with.

Well, I never liked Arcanum as much as I did the Fallouts, but I can't imagine any company today doing it right.

To do it right, it'd have to be:

1) Isometric

2) Purely turn based (the sequel should scrap the half-assed TB/RT combat).

3) Have good writers and a dynamic world that reacts to your actions.

Heaven help us if Bethesda gets there grubby paws on it. :(

damn...this new edge of twilight trailer kinda reminded me of Arcanum :
