what is your favorit roleplaying game

I love that moment of realization when you see that the thread is from eight fucking years ago when somebody decided that they had to dig pages back to talk about something. I suppose it's better than just making new threads, but necromancy is creepy.

Started playing a Star Wars game, and a heavily homebrewed Mass Effect game with my friends just recently. However, we are all horrible people who can't roll for our lives, or go two minutes without raucous laughter. Then again, we have great fun, usually to the detriment of those around us.

Holy..., oh wait, it's from 2003. Wow, 8 freaking years. For a second I thought Rosh came back all of the sudden. Well, those were the days, huh? This is a heck of a necro though. :P

As for the thread, I did some Cyberpunk and Whitewolf. A bit of LARP too when I was younger.

*goes to the history thread to reminisce*

First exposure to pen and paper RPGs was of course DnD. Only played a few campaigns with my friends though before I sort of fell off of it. I started about the time when the very first Red and Blue versions of Pokemon came out, we were all 10, and our dungeon-master insisted on a few of them involving Charizard and Pikachu and so forth. Despite that, I still got into cRPGs involving DnD rulesets like Planescape Torment and Neverwinter Nights

As I went into junior-high, I started getting into mini-wargaming, painting an Eldar Ulthwe army for WH40K and playing at my local comic-book/wargaming store which unfortunately went out of business as I went into high-school. I even got busted for drawing Wraithlords and Paxton Arms Cataphracts from Heavy Gear in my 8th grade science textbook.

That's how me and my friends played 3.5 DnD, but with some bitter arguments too, but I miss playing, Our DM (and one of my close friends) is flaky as fuck on the subject of DnD, our Paladin moved (because he couldn't get a handle on his own life, the whole stoner thing someone brought up earlier and a bitch ex), I (the druid) work almost everyday so it's kinda hard to play now.

I tired to get a game of Call of Cthulu going but no one was interested in a game where you were going to end up crazy or dead no matter what.

But for CRPGs: I've been playing Bloodlines and it's amazing. And Fallout New Vegas

Yeah people manage to be totally dumb. The shitty thing is that we all know each other from school, and manage to all live 20-45 minutes away from it in vastly different directions. Sucks when compounded balancing work and school schedules for people, but we're all trying to keep fridays free becuase the campus is deserted on fridays and we could play in the cafeteria without causing a ruckus (or the park, but that won't last for long.)

I'm also trying to develop a campaign using SPECIAL but I have so many things to do I just don't have that much time.

Aww but that's what makes it so fun. My brother played a Cthulu campaign (using a different set of rules) and had some of the best moments of party members going insane and trying to kill each other.
One party member lost it in a sewer trying to flee the undead and ended up psychotically killing zombies, another decided that for the good of the party the party should all be killed before dying trying to batter a horrible creature from the netherealms to death and my brother accidently caused someone to go insane when he accidently shot her lover through the head.

Ah, so many memories ....

Forgotten Realms
Planescape
Vampire: The Masquerade
Werewolf: The Apocalypse
Earthdawn
Shadowrun
Clarge
Cyberpunk

But the that nails it for me is AD&D: Dark Sun.

Love the desert planet ravaged by magic ... Athas ....

A big part of my love for the game has to do with the amazing artwork by Gerald Brom. (Also worked on Shadowrun)
