Does anyone remember a couple of years ago when the 4th Mad Max movie was SAID to be in development? Well I was wondering if anyone has heard any NEW news about it. I've searched around and all I can dig up is old stuff.

I seem to remember reading that it was put on hiatus because of 9/11 and all the subsequent events, something about it being too hard to fly out supplies/equipment/personnel to where they were filming. It was a few years ago though, so I could be remembering it wrong.

I was looking for the currently situation of this movie in IMDb and found that the last status update was in 23 September 2003. I don't think Gibson is going to do another Mad Max or Lethal Weapon. The governator did terminator 3 after getting too old but that's a different $$ituation.

I saw an article in People Magazine not too long ago that said it was in pre-production.

We'll see.

The first Mad Max is okay, the second one (Roadwarrior or what?) is awesome, but the third one (Beyond Shitterdome or something) with all them kids is just plain awful.

:D @ King of Creation. Great story.

Ive been meaning to say this...I understand why the movies are loved, but I saw the first one and it really was only a decent movie except for the fact that had a setting never before done in a movie. I suppose that was enough for a sequel which really made it great.

Ive only seen the first one though. I have to get the other two.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

I liked Road Warrior the best. I never cared much for the original.

Edit 2020: You piece of shit. Go kill yourself.

Well I hope it eventually gets made ,because I think it's one of the best post apocalyptic series out there.

How many post-apocalyptic movie series are there?

Though I suppose they could make a sequal to Waterworld or The Postman (why look at that, Hollywood butchering another book) so they could qualify as a 'series.'

Beyond Thunderdome was pretty good for the most part. The only thing i really have to wonder is...

how is it all of those kids ended up surviving all by themselves with not an adult in sight?

Always thought that was kind of odd myself...

It is a good series though, and this thread is the first i've heard of them even planning a sequel. Could be pretty cool. I'do have my doubts about how it would turn out though.

Well it all depends on the acting and story.I think that Mel Gibson could finish the series out with a bang.He did Lethal Weapon 4 a few years ago ,so I believe he can do another action movie.

Edit: This motherfucker can't even type like a big boy.

Compared to the original comic, it sucks major ass, but compared to other shit on TV these days it is pretty good.

BTW, Jeremiah was TEH original PA setting, and the story was also great.
Come to think of it I would love to see a Jeremiah game.

There are a couple of post-apocalyptic series.Kotario...there not all good ,but there are a few!Cyborg is one of them,The stand was a mini-series as well .The night of the living dead series is post-apocalyptic too though not anything like fallout.I consider post-apocalyptic to be anything pertaining to the world being completely overun, destroyed,or changed. Planet of the Apes is even post-apocalyptic .

Edit: Toront circa 2005 should be killed. I want to kill this guy.

The third Mad Max doesn't do the first two justice. The Road Warrior pretty much defined the post-apoc genre, even though it wasn't the first movie to use such a setting. It also maintained a good balance between technology and barbarism, perhaps that is even the very defining part of the movie. Beyond Thunderdome is really more of a Sword&Sorcery movie in a post-apoc setting. While there are some good parts (the childrens search for an Eden, for example), on the whole the movie is nothing but mediocre.
