Whats more like FO3? FO3 or Bioshock?

First time out of the vault
Haha I was just checking out Bioshock, because I remembered some game back in the 99-01 era that I thought was also called bio-shock, and was a sort of futuristic FPS/RPG. Any1 remember that game?

Well anyway...looking at the New BioShock and the new FO3 I felt like BioShock was more Fallout than actual Fallout 3, even though BioShock is nothing like FO3...any1 else share this opinion?

http://www.2kgames.com/bioshock/enter.html

thats the link to the new BioShock just look at the screen shots. Given that its an FPS, but I am just saying the look of it seems to be more retro 50's and much less Oblivion...oops I mean Fallout 3.

BioShock is a retro-50s combined with Victorian and steampunk. Sure it rips off Fallout here and there, but it has its own unique style that's just as far apart from Fallout as the average PA title.

Besides, it's a shooter.

My point was kinda of a Jut at Bethseda for sucking...I dont ACTUALLY think it resembles FO, just making fun of how a completely different game can look more like FO3 than the actual sequel...sorry my humor bland.

Somewhat related: I remember over on the TTLG (Through the Looking Glass) forums there was a HUGE ruckus over the release of Bioshock - as some of you may know, it was supposed to be the 'spiritual successor' to System Shock 2; inevitably, comparisons to the gameplay in SS2 were abound, and many complaints were to be had.

My personal opinion is that Bioshock was fun for what it was, but did not deliver on the promises made by the developers, and also, despite having some very compelling and amazing moments, ended up being really linear and of little replay value.

I see quite a parallel here - it's more than likely that Bethsoft's version of Fallout will dissapoint the old-time fans just as much, and I can't wait for the release of FO3, if only to see what the fanbase does with it.

Any1 else think this topic has little to do with Fallout 3 discussion?

Any 1

Annnnnyyyyyy 1

One? Two letters off of a real word. Just a 1.

Its almost one in the morning. I've been playing ONE zombie slaughter after another. So I'm a little tired and a little cranky. Your "any1" just pissed off the fucking grammar Nazi in me. Which by the way is a hypocritical bastard.

stalker= fallout 3, or as close as you will get in terms of an experiance in first person.

bioshock is a whole other animal( but it isnt a tiger or a lion or any time of cat) i played it through so fast it couldnt help yelping at my prowess.

but seriously bioshock has sort of a post apoc atmosphere but it isnt fallout

Yep, there's the 50's feeling, but certainly not anywhere near Fallout. Completly other story, diffrent gameplay, diffrent goals.

i believe you're talking about System Shock 2, which Bioshock is a half-assed successor to.

Bioshock definitely has a Fallout influence in its themes and visual design, but this thread fell flat on its face.

30's.

Don't mix up art deco and the atomic age.

"i believe you're talking about System Shock 2, which Bioshock is a half-assed successor to."

its not like they called the game "system shock 3",it's a completely different experience and setting.it being a dumbed down shooter or not is irrelevant.so stop fucking comparing bioshock to system shock 2

the only similarities i see are the psychological feeling of being alone and the radio interaction between you and atlas that resulted in a similiar plot twist.everything else is different

Ok, that's your opinion, but the developers themselves said "this is a spiritual sequel to System Shock 2" prior to release. Why are you then telling people to stop comparing it to SS2?

because people are making it out to be that it is in fact system shock 3,when it is just inspired by system shock 2...

They're judging it as a *spiritual* successor. Which, you know, it is. I didn't see anyone, anywhere mention that it's an actual sequel.
