What's the point??

Except Minecraft fans don't love this game, because building is restricted to pre-selected plots, the natural terrain is unmodifiable, and the recipe lists are all out of whack.

Just like how shooter fans hate this game because of how much they have to walk to get to their enemy filled corridors and because the weight limit reduces their speed to a geriatric shitting their pants every ten minutes.

And just like how RPG players hate this game for having tissue paper thin plot and having no character to identify with.

See, as RPG fans I know we'd like to point at the other camp and go 'see, our game got killed because they started pandering to them!' but this game really does appeal to no one because of all of it's half hearted attempts to please everyone.

My guess is that they'll start with "premium" mods that you pay for while the bulk of the mods stay free.
My money's still on the paid subscription for everything model, or a system where you can pay an a la carte "service fee" per mod, but subscribe and you get "unlimited access" for a period of time (i.e. a microtransaction/mana system under a different name).

We'll see by October, I suppose.

Because you can make wacky machines for your land. Don't tell me you don't see the possibility. Just wait a month and you gonna see some funny machines. :D

It's just more evidence that the users, as far as Bethesda is concerned, are the console users who will pay $5 or $10 for these shit workshop packs which do little more than unlock assets already in the vanilla game files, and maybe throw in a couple of Radiant quest givers so they can brag about the "new adventures!" they're giving the whales, errrm, customers.

The PC players are little more than unpaid content providers in this scheme.
Don't forget steal mods and make them official content! Automatron was very shitty, they had it on the disk but instead made you pay $10 to unlock in order to play it. Shady as fuck.

Modder's may not be unpaid content creators if bethesda is going to have their way, they will be low paid content creators like the interns they hire to make all these workshop packs.

So it's an entire DLC for the players to see what others can build using it?
Hmmm definitely not the DLC for me, but to be honest I don't own any of the Fallout 4 DLC, only the base game (it was a christmas gift from a friend)

This is not what Fallout is about, and this is not what actual Fallout fans want.
But creating Rube Goldberg contraptions so you can post videos of them on YouTube is what role-playing is all about any more! Didn't you get the memo?
This is the New Fallout.

If you had told me before release that the focus of Fallout 4 would be Rube Goldberg contraptions and minecraft, I would never have believed you. I can't believe this is the direction Bethesda wants for Fallout.

Bethesda trolling the shit out of NMA it puts a goofy smile on my face.

I honestly feel like they know yall get mad everytime they do anything so they are just embracing it.

Well I agree with you there - Fallout 4 definitely looks like it was made specifically to alienate and upset Fallout fans, including Fallout 3 fans.

While Bethestards get trolled by others like those of us from the Codex. Boston Salt Party was sure satisfying.

I've already gotten over it, I just like to let Beth fans know why they're wrong. Bethesda knew who they were targeting with NuFallout and also wanted to make sure that you knew where to go so they added quest markers so you could get to your destination so you didn't have to think too much.

Fallout 4 let me down I tossed that in a corner but watching the shitstorm is a hobby for me. Bethesda fucking everyone. I just went back to GOW: UE like I usually do but fallout will always be in my heart.

I wouldn't really describe this as a shitstorm, it's really just passionate fans without anything else to talk about. If Fallout 4 had more substance we'd probably be having more in depth conversations about it but as it stands all we can really do is complain.

I consider it a shitstorm because of the practices its supporting. Its ugly but I can only sit back and watch knowing my favorite game is safe but I shiver thinking about what the future would be like if I were to have bought that fucking season pass. I would have been sooo mad.

That's why you make sure to wait until you can find opinions about all the content before you buy it. If there's one thing I've learned from this ordeal especially is that you never buy a Bethesda game until after you see the reviews and whether or not they bothered to improve on their games and spend it on better games if they didn't bother making an effort.

Trolling? Shitstorm? Did you mean Bethesda fucking their own future as Fallout 4 gets the lowest rating out of their games yet they didn't release DLCs with actually meaningful content like they did in the past to the point of disappointing some of their own hardcore fans (who defended FO4 to death before and after release) because Nuka World is supposedly the last story DLC they release for the worth of FO4's Season Pass, and also fucking their own modding community by trying to advertise console modding for Skyrim 'Special' Edition without properly handling the current modding scene for FO4's console version first? Yeah, sure.

Some people seem pessimistic
:roffle:

Hate to break this to you, but Bethesda's hardly the only AAA developer out there supporting these kinds of practices. They all seem to be racing in this direction, fucking over their own established lore and fan bases in the mindless pursuit of "Isn't this cool!!?" You may not want to be so smugly sure that your favorite game is "safe", unless it's some obscure indie title.
