Why would you play Fallout 3 today?

Some games grow a bit of nostalgia along the years that makes revisiting fun on a certain level even if the original experience wasn't really diamond, but Fallout 3 does not.
I suffered from the fact that Fallout 3 was my first 'Fallout' game. Oh well.... at least nowadays I got distracted by many other better games and having played the original Fallout(s) like crazy these days, so I no longer have that feeling of nostalgia (traversing the metros and shits) in Fallout 3.

Testing, testing and more testing... I have to test the Dartgun, check if the uniques Gauss Rifle and Tesla Cannon from FO3 are working as intended, FO3's Vault Jumpsuits and Utility Jumpsuits being delivered to Sarah Weintraub for the unnamed quest "Suits You, Sarah", check the damn aliens with the energy shields to see if they are now balanced, check if the Wild Bill's Sidearm is now included in the Old Vaquero and Cowboy perks, check if Talon Armors now do not include the benefits of the Travel Light perk, make sure the Zhu-Rong is using the 10mm ammo list properly, test all of the unlimited "deliver" quests that were using quest scripts on 5 second delay in game mode (the way FO3 does some of these quests is stupid and can cause problems so we in the TTW team changed them to: ) they should now be handled in dialogue scripts which makes them much more efficient and fix all the problems when delivering the items, need to check in more detail if the weapons affected by the Quick Reload perk that were missing the sounds still need the meshes on the loose files of the fixes or if they are already in TTW.

And I will stop there so not to bore you guys and gals :aiee: so yeah, I have to reinstall and restart from scratch another TTW FO3 game so I can have a clean game and go through the story until I can find the Gauss Rifle and the Tesla Cannon and reach Vault 21 and get the quest to deliver Jumpsuits and then check all the other stuff I have in my Testing Checklist -_-' .

So that is why I "play" "Fallout 3" today. :lmao:

Me, I don't think I booted up this game ever since I finished it and it's terrible ending (Never got a broken steel).

It was my first Fallout game unfortunately, but I discovered New Vegas and Fallout 1 and 2 because of it.

So, while I hate it nowadays because it is just awful game in general and stain on a franchise I am also grateful because of it I discovered true Fallout games.

Nah, it's fine to say you have fun with F3. Saying F3 is a good Fallout game on the other hand...
I still consider Fallout 3 fun, F4 on the other hand, maybe you need to acid to appreciate it?

Ready for my opinion?

I think it was a great game and I loved it, one of my favourite games, replay it often because I think its so good.

Hey, I loved it to. Fallout 3 was the shit but in retrospect... it was just shit. It's a bad RPG and a mediocre fallout game. and the only reason I enjoyed it so much was because I basically ignored the game itself and walked around listening to GNR radio's kickass music.

Yeah GNRS music was brilliant

Lots of people said that F3 was bad because it differed from the west coast way. Thing is an east coast game is bound to differ to a west coast one because a nuclear wasteland isnt gonna be the same everywhere. I agree that they fucked F4 up though.

That was probably my biggest problem with fallout 3 was that it didn't differ enough and the ways that it did didn't make sense when you take the other games into account. And literally damn near everything that existed on the west coast apparently found its way east. But whatever I'm not condemning you for enjoying FO3 because it can be fun, you just gotta ignore the game. Actually that video you just posted made me want to play fo3... damn it.

I've got a reason to play FO3 again. Seriously, try this yourselves:
  1. Before you start anything, you need to get into a right mindset. And the mindset is hate. Extreme, utter, irrational hate for FO3 and every single character in it.
  2. Go to Megaton on a new character and start Moira's quest.
  3. Do not skip anything she says, listen to that voice burning into your brain like an exceptionally annoying acid.
  4. Do every quest for 100% bonus objectives. Every single one, no matter how much of a chore it is.
  5. Finish the quest and immediately kill everyone in town. If you managed to get properly hateful (the more hate the better), you should be giggling like a psychotic schoolgirl within seconds.
  6. For a finishing touch, detonate the nuke.
Honestly, points 5 and 6 were my favourite moments in FO3 and were among my favourite moments in video games in general. Whoever said hate can't be fun?

To be honest I really don't know. To me it's just setting and the occasional good thing in Fallout 3. Setting wise being on the East Coast and having been to D.C. It kinda reminds me of home when I play it or think about it. But other than that the game is total bollocks. Wouldn't really play it for any other reason than the fact I was bored. What are your reasons?

Two reasons.

#1: Tale of Two Wastelands
#2: Wanderer's Edition

And that's it.

- escapism in a fictionnal location ( rest is shit, but the location is magnificent)
- doing random, really random stuff. Don't talk to anyone.

The thing is, you can do the same kind of playthrough in new vegas or the witcher 3s. There is no need to cripple the writting or the c n c. You don't like the consequences? Just reload.

I don't believe in the feeling of empowerment often mentioned. A game in which your actions have no consequences isx a game that don't acknowledge your agency. It removes power from you.

Nostalgia, really.

I still load it up every now and then just to dick around a bit, I've been fond of it because it was the first Fallout game I've ever played.

Tbh if it wasn't for 3 I wouldn't have gotten into the better games of the series.

I would replay it just because I'm a masochist and the thought of playing fallout 4 while rubbing a cheesegrater on my balls, gets me so hard:smug::smug:

I play the game with my own canon mindset, that it's a totally separate timeline set 20 years after the war, and heads off into fallout 4 afterwards, though i still have to ignore it every time the "200 years has passed" garbage comes up.

It's rough around the edges but I hear someone has taken the demo and is building an entire game around it! Thank god for Fallout enthusiasts that know coding right?

Oh you're talking about Bethesda's Wasteland Adventure : Volume 1, Scarcity of an Easily Obtainable Product.

I just recently started a new play through, and I haven't been able to stick with it. Guess I've played it too many times and have been spoiled by New Vegas. I find myself going through the usual motions even though I used an alternate start mod. Fallout 3's only replayability is in the exploration, and I've been just about everywhere multiple times. Maybe it is time for me to let Fallout 3 die.

Yeah that's how I feel about playing Fallout 3. I see no good point in replaying it when I could be playing a better game (Fallout New Vegas).
