Where'd That 6th Toe Come From?
After getting feedback from the well known 2238 FONLINE, I have secretly improved the critter graphic and re-rendered out AB walk animations for all my friends here!

As suggested by PooperScooper (an administrator of the great Duck and Cover website), the limp is actually suiting for this monster.

Sincerely, your hard working volunteer modder,
Prosper

p.s. give credit if you burrow any of these. thanks!

This time it looks actually ok. The colourset could be a bit more fallouty. (there is some thread about the fallout color palette IIRC).

If this thing has a good backgroundstory attached, I wouldn't mind seeing that in a mod or so.

Though, this here

looks a bit odd.

That is odd.. i must of combined some of the frames of another animation by accident into the SW.

For coloring I don't know what to do really... I am color blind.. I could try slapping on similar colors the best I can.

Sorry, I apologize, didn't know that. Maybe, if you improve the critter a bit more, one fine guy'll overwork the colour set then. ;)

Actually quite impressed by that. Would love to see some attack animations.... a huge claw coming down to swipe at its enemies.

Keep it up.

I thought it would be worth a try to add hair. I am using Blender's particle system to get the job done.

I like it.. but it is hard to say whether or not it fits the atmosphere of fallout.

edit: fixed link[/img]

edit 2: So an attack example is in ordeR?

YETI!! I don't know why.... but I like it. Its something new / fresh and not seen in fallout. Even the rats had no visible hair.

If you finish it.... it could be useful somewhere.

This one looks okay. Well done Prosper. Because of the limp he would have to a unique critter though. So no fighting hordes of Yetis.

the hair definitely makes it better mostly because it hides some of the flaws. The feet look a little weird, they might give the impression of walking on tiptoes or floating.

You have improved a lot Prosper though i would suggest you look at some anatomy and some animation books, or some online tutorials and stuff. I understand you're making monsters which are not anatomical correct humans, but they are probably mutated humans or whatever so the foundation is the same.

for the walkcycle take a look at these:
http://www.idleworm.com/how/anm/02w/walk1.shtml
http://www.anticz.com/Walks.htm
http://minyos.its.rmit.edu.au/aim/a_notes/anim_principles.html

Also yeah, what Dude101 said, the limp is fine for just one critter, but to see 2 or more limping on the same leg would be weird

I have much house work to do today says my parents.

But I did make a quick video of the creature with one attack animation. There is more than one though.. but for showing off only.

your improving prosper but i do not see this walking around in the FO games.
However maybe as a failed super mutant transformation (bad batch FEV :P) but then the hair would be silly again :)

Anyways you will probly drop this project to create something else again...

In all blatant honesty, which i am commonly known among my friends, I am going to say this:

Please stop making all these weird scrunched up plasticine figures , at least for the purpose of using it in FO/FO2. GO ahead for FT:BOS or FO3. Why?, Because...

1. Doesn't fit the atmosphere of the game.
2. Doesn't fit the feel of the game.
3. It's just bad. Although this looks far more advanced than what you put out previously.

I'm no designer and I'm definitely not a modder. But, I am a Fallout fan.

Looking at your creature, it reminds me of those 2.5D Ice Element Monsters from some MMORPG games.

On a side note, keep up the learning.

Clothes folded and yard mowed!

@Dude101
Well it is not my call as to how many copies of the critter is placed in the game. I am making modder resources for the time being and maybe much later on I can expand my skillset into real mapping and such.I agree that the critter should be of a kind I guess.

Thanks for the links! I will look over them and hopefully read into it as much as possible!

I will keep an open mind that the monster's anatomy should agree with some laws of physics. hehe

@Demon and Oracle and the rest of you who believe I have improved, thankyou very much! I was afraid at times that I may never improve.

I think the first version looks better than the second one, simply because it would fit the fallout environment better (at least better than the hairy one).

Changing his color to skin toned or mutant green would make him look like an oversized human changed by radiation or a super mutant that didn't complete his transformation (half human half super mutant). Still, the critter would have to be a bit more worked on.

The hair thing could be tested on mole rats and such though.

So the statement that fallout fans are the most difficult to please is false - people will accept everything, no matter how shitty it is. Trust me, I do know what I'm talking about.
I'm always right! Remember that! And I can't be overruled, of course. Never. Seriously.

^Hahaha... and Cotinuum's crusade against Prosper's evil continues!!

(your crusade is righteous of course, but it would seem that MR is... *arhem*... trolling you a little bit?)

remember Lich and his work? Sometimes I get the same around Prosper as I had with Lich when he opened new topics :P
