LotT is the best Fantasy movie to date. Awesome visually and not too dumbed-down. And I think everyone realizes, that you cannot be 100% true to a book of such magnitude.
Plus that is the only fantasy movie with well thought-out weapon and armor concepts.

That's really all they have going for them. They're overly long and slow, have a pretty inconsistent tone (going from serious, life-threatening scariness to "battles are fun yay"), and follow the rule of cool instead of the rule of good filmmaking.
Also, the third movie ended about an hour late.

Willow is a bad Tolkien ripoff, Dragonheart is cheesy and Connan and Red Sonya are just silly (despite them being awesome on a different level). As I said - High Fantasy, and non animated. Just name one better made.
