Would the Fallout games have stayed isometric if Van Buren was made?

I wondered if the Fallout games would have stayed isometric if Van Buren had actually gotten made or at least if Bethesda never got involved with Fallout. Do you think they would have adapted the future Fallout games afterwards into being 3D fps shooters with roleplaying or would they have kept Fallout the way it was continuing onwards past Van Buren?.

No because the gaming industry seems to rely on fads and trends when making decisions that involve stuff like that. PoS exists after all, because Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance was so popular, at least I think so anyway. Plus let us be honest here Van Buren looked like crap. I would have still played it but I would have been saying "Man Fallout 1 and 2 and even Tactics looks better" but that is just a theory....A GAME THEORY. Sorry I hate that guy but it just came out due to tourettes.

Well I would have expected if Van Buren did get finished it would look better since all we got was a test of gameplay. But the again idk how good the 3D was actually back in that time.

I know 3D in Atom RPG was good but it still chugged. I think my PC at the time would not have even met the Van Buren specs.

In another universe what would happen if Van Buren had released, but went down like a lead balloon ?
If a company formed out of Troika had then released a 3d game but kept advanced single player combat (dive for cover. Ive seen that in olympus) and ended up a cult game) and made the hexes better to get away from that zig zag walk then Fallout would have reached perfection

I'm sure it could have but I never really had my hopes up for that like a lot of people did.

They would have made them add a Real Time mode.

Van Buren had a lot of promise with some questionable stuff. But it wasn't even finished, so i'm sure a lot of it could have been improved before release.
I would believe so. Given if they got full development time and finished what they needed to do.

Depends on whether or not Van Buren was a success or not.

Generally most franchises that are able to maintain steam end up capitulating to popular trends- for better or for worse, in order to maintain success.

Isometric RPGs are an extremely niche genre that really serve a very small portion of people who are into games. While you have seen a rise in popularity with CRPGs and whatnot because of games like D:OS 2, and POE- they'll still fail to reach the cultural relevance and popularity of games like Call of Duty, Skyrim, etc.

The barrier of entry for most CRPGs ends up being higher for most people who enjoy games, because when most people sit down to play games, they generally do it as a hobby and to blow off steam/pass time. Learning a video game adaptation of D&D or some House rules generally doesn't really interest the mass market crowd who don't have that much time or interest video games in the first place.

That's at least my view, and also why I haven't really played anything beyond really easy/simple games that require very little skill to learn the mechanics.

How?! Am I the only one that really liked Van Buren's graphics and aesthetics? Sure we only could saw a fraction of it in the tech demo and most of it looks unpolished, but I really have a thing for Van Buren looks. Nothing can beat the originals' gritty textures but Van Buren presents itself as more "seamless" and the Vaults aesthetics are one of the best imo. I'm looking forward to Adam Lacko's reconstruction in the Unity engine, got me hyped.

Idk it looked pretty smoothed out, and the camera angles were kinda weird.
+ I feel the models were just a bit too cartoony, like fallout 1 had goofy faces here and there, but wasnt Action toy like
