Your character does NOT "resemble [his/her] father&quot

Idiotfool

Still Mildly Glowing
So, since I read in some of the front-page reviews before the game was released that your father "resembles" you, I've played around and restarted the game a few times. For giggles, I was going to try to get "Dad" to look like Liam Neesan.

Unfortunately, "Dad's" 95% the same in every game, save skin tone and hair based on race and, perhaps, eye color. I have been unable to detect differences in eye color at character creation, so this last point is irrelevant. With every non-raider female NPC looking nearly identical, I know I shouldn't have expected anything so extravagent as copying your character's nose and chin, say, but I was, dammit! Same stupid dad, no matter what.

I have screwed around a bunch, though. It really amuses me when I create a custom African American char and change the shade all the way to white and give them blonde hair. I told the game that I'm African American, though, so that's what "dad" is. I can honestly say that my character resembles their father in absolutely no way.

I have noticed some differences. Produce a pissed off black guy as a character, and your father will look slightly pissed off, similarly, create a perpetually smirking character and your father shall posses a slight smile.
This was all deduced from slight observations when normally playing the game, the differences are minimal, but I really don't care, he ultimately dies and presents a one dimensional character that no one could possibly care about.

There is pretty much a handful of dad models that change based on race. There is minimal differences, but nothing spectacular. Female characters also barely resemble the father at all.

What did you expect though? The whole game is half-hearted like this.

I can't wait for the mod that will make "dad" look *exactly* like Liam Neeson.

And I can't wait to see a mod with a totally different scenario :P

Can you make him look like patrick stewart

I thought that Patrick Stewart voiced the Vault Dweller's emperor while you are living in Vault 101 and then escape from the Imperial Dungeons....

wait, I'm mixing up FO3 and Oblivion again...

To me it's an example of wasted and/or misdirected effort.

But hurrah for a "Dad" model that changes appearance in a minor way, and has totally zero impact or usefulness in the game, and is hardly even noticeable.

I'm glad they took the time to code it in. Really.

I noticed the same thing a few days ago. No matter how extreme you make your features "dad" always looks pretty much the same.

Well, maybe your mom had a really good thing going on with the milkman. You know. It happens.

I wish for a deathclaw dad! And you would be a fuckin' mutant! Now THAT would be TOTAL IMMERSHUN!!!!111oneoneone

You can make a hitler-like character: the punked hairstyle (one half of the head shaved, the hair is 'neatly' combed towards the side) and a small patch of beard, which gives a toothbrush like moustache simmetry. It's really creepy combined with a very pale skin.

I never understood how you are born outside and brought inside the vault. well, i;ve been playing for a little while.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who appreciated this. For true.

Seriously, though. I'd rather have boring-ass James be the first face I see in the post-apocalypse than the rotting pumpkin that is the Overseer in the first Fallout.
