I know there's a music thread, but it's nothing but posting Youtube links to speed metal songs and whatnot.
What's your favorite album or musician? It can be rock, jazz, blues, hip hop, rap, electronica, anything.

I would consider myself a music connoisseur, I generally know what I'm talking about with music,
better than I can TV or video games. My favorite genres include old school rockabilly and country,
2000s-2010s nu-disco and nu-funk, 1970s British hard rock, hip hop, amongst many other genres.

Right now I've been listening to This Old Dog by Mac DeMarco pretty heavily, and Kendrick Lamar's DAMN.

I can't really explain why I like them so much, I just kind of do.
 
I love Tyler The Creator and especially his first three albums, Bastard, Goblin and Wolf.

Those albums are about his schizophrenic alternate persona's taking the forms of actual characters at a location called Camp Flog Gnaw where Tyler himself has to tell a therapist about himself and his struggles. There's a lot of references and interconnected bits and shifting between narratives and timeline that creates a fractured whole that you have to try and piece together. What is reality and what isn't?

The albums themselves are quite enjoyable to me. Lots of guest spots from his fellow OFWGKTA members to mix things up and the broad genre of hip hop goes all over the place. He made the albums when he was really young so they are damn edgy and I quite like that. Sarah, Tron Cat and Pigs are examples of him turning it up to 11 with his edgyness.

Because he produces his own albums the first, Bastard (or Dinosaur if you want to count that one) is pretty amateurish but contains some pretty good songs like the previously mentioned Sarah; Such as VCR/Wheels, Bastard, Inglorious, Parade and Assmilk.

Goblin is where he ups his production quality but it's more quantity over quality with a whopping 18 tracks and some are damn bad but the ones that are good are fucking beautiful tracks; Goblin, Yonkers, Radicals, She, Her, Nightmare and Golden.

Wolf is where it feels like a proper album, nearly every song on this album is top notch IMO.

He's made two other albums since then; Cherry Bomb and Scum Fuck Flower Boy.

Anyway, I like him cause he's edgy. You never know what kinda shit he's going to pull out of his magic hat and his music videos are absurdly funny. During those first albums he was depressed and bitter and lashed out at the world while also taking the piss out of himself, I can relate to that.

I don't usually have a monolithic favorite band, I usually cycle through listening to certain things more often, right now I've been into Devin Townsend for the past 2 years.

 
It's great to see that after all the time that Deftones have been around (almost 30 years) and they've been putting out consistently good music. They've always strived to do something interesting or different with each album they released, and I greatly enjoyed the performances of all their members (Rest in peace, Chi). There's always much for me to enjoy for each of their releases from (Like) Linus (1993), to Gore (2016). Favorite album from them has to be Koi no Yokan (2012) for it's great variety.



Title Fight was a band I only discovered a year ago from a friend who enjoys listening to random indie groups, and after having a listen to some of their music, I went and purchased their entire discography. One thing that anyone can take away from this band is that with each album they have released, there's a sort of transformation.

The Last Thing You Forget (2009) has a very aggressive punk-rock sound for a majority of the album with a hint of post-hardcore, then Shed (2010) was released, dipping further into a more melodic tone and putting more emphasis on their riffing. 2 years later, and out pops Floral Green (2012), incorporating a lot more underground influences and styles, mixing into its own sound and listeners can tell they are beginning to break away from the sound of first two albums. Their most recent LP, Hyperview (2014) is their most surprising release. Now Title Fight has incorporated a lot of reverb and shoegaze elements, similar to that of Whirr, into all of their music here. It's by far the biggest change from any of their other albums, and fans are sorta divided over it. In fact, Hyperview was the very first album I listened to when I was told to check out Title Fight, and I ended up loving it, being a fan of Deftones' shoegazey experimentation. Since then, I've grown to enjoy the rest of their music.

 
Hard to say what my favourite really is, it changes so often...
Gotta say that one all time favourite has to be Necrophagist and their absolutely phenomenal album "Epitaph". It brought me to Technical Death Metal and was an inspiration to so many other bands.

Other favourite bands... Gotta say Deathspell Omega. Favourite album is probably the "Chaining the Katechon" EP, it's just a 20 minute ride of terror. Although all of their albums and EPs are great.
