Your own Vault ideas

What's people's problem with this? Other than "It's not in the original games?"
So adding a major element that wasn't in previous games isn't a big enough issue for you?
It can work sometimes, and Fallout 2 had wacky humor, but the Bethesda shit (which was unfortunately carried into NV to an extent) is... well shit.

The wacky robots is something to live by but... Their design is not that bad. OWB was objectively 50s mad science, no betshitsda involvement. Aside from that... Any elaboration?
I meant mainly the wacky robots- securitrons being the biggie. OWB was an exception because it didn't take itself seriously.
Other than that there's not much besides a toy gun being used to activate ARCHIMEDES (which isn't quite on squirt gun level of awfulness but still pretty bad), the plasma/laser effects were carried over (gooifying someone is fun when it should be horrific), they're minor nitpicks really when you compare it to the abysmal turds that are F3 and F4.

I did say to an extent- I'm not trying to shit on NV.

Can we stop talking about a toy gun and go back to vault ideas?
What about 'em? What about writing about a control group Vaults since wacky science and isolation theme is overused? In the land so duct-taped as Commonwealth, suprising that Vault 81 wasn't ever a control group vault. It could do something about growing up and grounding into new brave world, for hines' sake.

What about 'em?
Well the thread is Vault ideas.

So a vault with 999 toothbrush enthusiasts and 1 guy that hates toothbrushes. Here's the thing- the enthusiasts don't know which one is the hater, so obviously the vault is doomed. Why have a child when the mother/father could be the hater? Why sit at a table with a possible hater? help me Why take a shower, when the hater could've infiltrated your room and destroyed your toothbrush? Everyone would carry around their toothbrush- even the hater would have to carry it. Because they'd know if anyone suspected them, then they would be killed. seriously guys help me Cults would form, people would claim they had the powers of determining the hater. Newborns would be slaughtered to appease the so-called psychics that sensed the hater.

You might think I'm joking but I'm not- this is something I'm considering on a day to day basis. I'm in the shop- I think about toothbrush enthusiasts. I'm in the shower- I think about toothbrush enthusiasts. I'm in the chinese takeaway- I think about toothbrush enthusiasts.

When I wrote 'wacky', I did not mean Fallout 4 levels of wackiness and canon destroying 50s adherence. I just wrote it off in jest, really....

The Last Voyage of the USS Constitution is about the only wacky adventure in Fallout 4 and unquestionably the best adventure in the game.

Maybe we should get back to the question at hand and talk about vault ideas.

I just came up with a premise myself. What about a vault that constantly maintains a low level of oxygen. Just enough to survive, but little enough to do some damage over time. What would the effects of light oxygen deprivation do to a society over multiple generations? How long would the dwellers last before they bust out of the vault just to breathe "fresh" air again?

I think if we're establishing "New" Vault rules, it should go like this:

1. They must have actual experimental value
2. The Vault can't just be the same 200 years later
3. The Vault should have descendants unless you have a reason why it being wiped out is a good thing.
4. Sadism is not the goal but ruthlessness is the method.

Does that exclude control vaults where, perhaps, something interesting happened that wasn't the result of a ludicrous experiment?
