I was thinking that while we wait for the game we could have a wish list.

    Here's mine:

    - Less traps

    - Total rebalance of skills

    - Please make perception part of awareness

    - Fix armor system

    - Moar skill checks. Not just the various "ass" but also Checks for Demolitions, weapons, traits (Psychopath would open up a lot of interesting opportunities), "SPECIAL" checks (charisma etc.)

    - dialogues with companions and companions quest

    - Better quality writing

{ I'm not saying it's bad, but it lacks characters standing out like Caesar and House or even as funny as Raul. I really miss Caesar talking about dialectics)

    - an original plot with an interesting antagonist with compelling arguments on his side

    - less judgmental companions and more opportunities for egoistic/evil rangers.

    - more and better perks

More reactivity and less linear would be the top priorities for me. Also choices that matter and give consequences later on.

    e:

I would also wish for better exploration and random encounters. And maybe a better mutated fauna? I mean in WL2 you fought giant frogs and badgers but I would like something more unique and terrifying than that.

    e2:

And Scotchmo as a companion! He could have traveled north, he's a hobo after all.

Yeah, random encounters should really be a thing in this game. Location wise I'm happy with the number of places you can visit, though I admit that some secret spot or a bad ass military base would be interesting.

Most important thing regarding exploration is that there should be a greater number of fighting scenarios as they get old pretty fast. However I believe that this game needs more quality than quantity

PS I'm new, which way to the bar?

I waited 26 years for a sequel to Wasteland, and when it finally arrived, it gave me motion sickness (a good metaphor for the whole RPG renaissance, but in the case of Wasteland, I mean it literally).

I'm not entirely sure what was wrong with it, but there's something dodgy about that camera. My only wish for Wasteland 3 is that they fix whatever that was.

    My wish list:

-less scripted sequences in the game (Arizona suffered from it way more than California with everyone dying in Happy Valley, some unsavable NPCs and destruction of Highpool/ Ag Center)

-absolutely no fucking escort missions ( those with Red and Bart in Damonta made me quit a game for few weeks)

-better crafting (weapon mods' effects weren't noticeable and I didn't bother leveling in that skill)

-better companions' skill set (I didn't use anyone outside of Angela, Scotchmo, Vulture's Cry and Pizepi as everyone else had really bad skills or were inferior to those companions)

-better antagonist (Matthias felt interesting at the beginning and at the end, in the middle with all his mass killings his writing felt kinda lazy, also his questline could be a little bit more than "kill everyone armed in every major settlement)

-better difficulty curve (I played on hard, up to Damonta I had no major stops, but there I've had to save scum all the way through it- partly to those giant robots with saws and escorts. Then I've had rather easy time, until I've met God's Militia. They and salt dealers from Hollywood were a bit challenging. Matthias boss fight on the other hand was nothing. Beat it on the first try with only my team and Vargas)

I've had problem with Ag Center/ Highpool due to it's bad scripts. After saving Highpool I set off to Ag Center without even using elevator assuming that you can do both if you're fast enough. When I got there I got the message that they can no longer keep them away from control room- but the place was already destroyed. I thought that I'm experiencing some kind of bug so I spent around an hour reloading saves.

One of the biggest issues I had was the imbalance between attributes... Combat Initiative and AP were simply too valuable to sacrifice in almost all cases, and that gap between Int 4 and Int 8, with everything in between providing exactly zero benefit, was just shameful. Hopefully they work on this so that repeat playthroughs aren't so similar. This is especially true since there will only be one custom Ranger. And with that in mind, how about companions that aren't gimped right out of the gate with 2 Int, 5(!) Int, 7 AP, 5 Cha, etc? That's going to be more important than ever if we don't get to make a full Ranger squad this time...

I found the story to be fairly uninspired, so for the most part I'll be checking this out for the gameplay. Expecting them to make a deeper dialogue system or less silly plot this time seems unrealistic, unless they hired all new writers. I wouldn't mind if they cut back on the references though... Tbh Wasteland 2 covered damn near everything that was popular in the 80s and 90s, so maybe they've run out of things to parody...

Whoa there... I'm going to assume that you used a lot of shotguns and heavy weapons because the Long Barrel, Tactical Scopes, and Laser Sights made assault and sniper rifles godly. The other weapons I will agree on, although a 3 AP crowbar simply destroys enemies in the hands of Blunt master midgame. But yeah, aside from buffing the two most OP weapons to be even more OP, mods were a bit lackluster...

There were some good ways to make choices at points and other points it was more about how your skills can solve a situation which was nice, but yes, more choices in general with more seen/felt consequences would be nice.

    My wishlist is
    • More choices/consequences with factions, characters, situations. There were good ones as I've mentioned but the game needed some more intricate small decisions instead of the end of the area sorts of decisions.
    • Making other weapon classes viable as the Assault rifle class was (Sniper and Melee Weapons did ok for me but other weapon categories fell flat)
    • This sound superficial but update the in-game models, they clash really hard with the portraits in my opinion and they could look a little better too. They look zany and cartoony compared to their portraits. I'm fine with Wasteland being zany and weird because it always was but having a dude wear a ballet skirt and be shown all dirty and scavenger like in his portrait doesn't match up.
    • Make the traits at the character selection screen feel more worthwhile to have pros and cons to your character rather than something that seems like a difficulty multiplier. Maybe I misremember it but I think I only had one of my four rangers take one of these because most did not seem worth the trade off whatsoever. I'm fine with a plus/minus effect but it seems to me like those were more minus than plus.
    • Don't make the multiplayer portion a core aspect of the game please. I'm fine with the idea they're going for but please let this game still be just as fun 20 years later even if you're playing alone.
I actually really enjoyed WL2 but not as much as WL. I thought they did a fairly good job with the game, but I also only ever played the Director's Cut of it.

That singleplayer isn't gutted for multiplayers sake. Maybe its just in light of fallout 76, but I can't imagine a decent way to implement multiplayer in an RPG without just gutting every important system in the game.

Have they gave any details at all on how multiplayer would work? I would figure this would be seen as a pretty big deal for fans.

I was under the assumption that it was more like co-op that you could still fuck each other over with rather than vs. type of multiplayer.

I wouldn't mind a co-op or multiplayer Fallout or Wasteland game, but they need to be more than 'SHOOTOUTS IN THE POST-APOC 50S ZANY AMERICA'.

It needs to be built into a conflict/storyline and world.

Even with coop. Imagine how messed up questing and dialogue could get. I would imagine the only way to avoid failing every quest and being forced to kill everything to progress is if you had two players on the exact same page. Two randoms over the internet=disaster for someones save file.

A new wasteland, something different to desert for once. A frozen Canadian kind of setting where you have to deal with cold and other elements instead of water or whatever would be nice for a change.
