The 'MrMattyPlays' Fallout 4 Review "A Near Perfect Game"

Fall Out Boy

Unbeliever
I've seen him here and there on YouTube, came across his Fallout 4 review.

I'd very much like to hear NMA's response to this thank-you.

I saw this video because it was one of the first reviews posted. It's just further evidence that anyone can buy a microphone and record themselves playing a video game and post it to YouTube with the word "Review" in the title.

Gaming journalism is not like becoming a lawyer or doctor or even a real journalist. There's no entrance exam or requirement. Any schmuck can have an opinion - the difference is these people post it to Youtube.

Super Bunnyhop did a fair review of the game and is one of my "go-to" reviewers, although reviewing games is a secondary part of his channel. He actually has a journalism degree.

I am not sure what you can say about someone who's calling Fallout 4 a near perfect game. I mean com on, even if you love the game, but near perfect? That's pretty hefty.

These are the same people that give the game 9/10 but say "it is FAR from a perfect score."

To me games seem to be on a scale of 7-10/10 because I rarely see anything below that. Even if someone says tons of negative things about it the game will still get a 8/10. I want to know how this game is near perfect because I find it super boring after 64 hours and I haven't even finished the main quest.

Without knowing who this guy is my guess is he's the age of the target demographic for Fallout 4 or he doesn't play role playing games OR he plays Fallout 3 and New Vegas for the shooting aspect.

Likely the case, even though the shooting is better then it was I have played way better shooters. That's all the game has going for it unless you like to play Fallout 4: Minecraft Edition.

Holy shit. I think you guys should take a look at these vids:

I think he got some flack from someone to do with Fallout/Bethesda/Can't remember. Thats why he "updated his thoughts" :/

I really have no interest in the opinions of someone that made a video titled "Fallout 4: A Near Perfect Video Game" and posted it the day before launch.

Just like I have no interest in the opinions of someone who begins a sentence with "As a hardcore Fallout 1 and 2 fan, here is why Fallout 4 is the best game ever made."

he was cool at first but now that the game has came out and we can all see how shit it is, i don't like him anymore. never seen his 1/2 review tho

Who the FUCK has ever said that?!?! paha

Just from taking a quick glance at his vid list you can see that the guy milks views from the Fallout 3 and 4 fans to no end (there must be over 300 vids about Fallout 4 in there) and it seems to be working well for him since he has 200k+ subscribers. Since his whole "bread earner" comes from pandering to that fanbase of course he's going to glorify that thing to no end.

True, but It's still incomprehensible to me that a human being could give Fallout 4 the title of 'Near Perfect' and have a large amount of people agree with them.

Unfortunately, a surprising number of reviews are out there with that. Bethesda's marketing has likely realized they can sell more Fallout 4 by bringing up its heritage and how it is a "hardcore RPG" and how fans of the original love Fallout 4.

It's not like hyperbole would be controversial in the age of "10/10 goty". xD

Still, 'Near Perfect'

I can't think of anything that I've ever considered 'Near Perfect'

People need to understand what PERFECT actually means.
