Automatron dlc looks completely boring

First time out of the vault
lol it looks like it's made by like a 14 year old, I just don't understand what they are thinking.

what do yall think maybe I am losing my mind

Does anyone remember this?

Look how they don't reveal the main antagonist, look at how they kept the suspense with the music and the bleeping. This is how you do a trailer.
Now we get this with EXPLOSIONS!!!

*sighs*
I said it looks meh, and I prob will enjoy it more than most people here.
But I would have preferred something a bit more subtle.

Target audience, remember? They're aiming for action, so the trailer is action-y. Taken outside of the context of Fallout, that actually looks less cringeworthy than the trailers for many other AAA games. Taken within the context of Fallout, well I'm sure you can all answer that.

I assume they've done more than just a paid mod, though. If anything, Bethesda does what they set out to do extremely well - it's just that what they set out to do isn't what old fans what them to do, but tough, we get what we get. After all, there's still the option to not buy it, if you really don't like it.

FO4 is a shooting game so more variety in things to shoot would improve FO4 on its own merits I suppose.
Still, it is practically just ripping off mods.

It wouldn't surprise me if they're just trying to cover all mod possibilities quickly so they can cash it before the modders get to it. After all, if they release a feature first, people won't bother to make a mod for it, which means there are no free alternatives. More money for Bethesda.

This DLC looks like it adds a lot; more robot AI with no explanation why, lots of enemy bullet sponges, blatant stealing of a mod authors idea, and more rehashing of FO3. Worth every penny.

No explanation for lore, bullet sponges, stealing from mods and rehashing Fallout 3 does seem to be keeping in with the theme Fallout 4 started with. I mean, settlement building. There's no way Bethesda came up with that on their own, they couldn't have been more blatant with that.

This looks dull, popamole at its finest. The robots look so mismatched and awkward that you can create. The sort of vibe I get from the trailer is "Almost nonexistent story where you kill everything in your way until you get to the big bad guy". Your four options will be:

- "Lets talk this out." - Turns hostile
- "Backstory before you die?" - Story with hostility
-"Hate Mechanist" - Piss off Mechanist
-"Sarcasm" - Piss off Mechanist sarcastically

Where's the MrMattyPlays video on this? There should be an hour-long analysis from him by now. :smug:

I wonder what Bethesda's thought process was when they decided to make a DLC centered around AI-controlled companions (as in, game AI, not in-world AI), when their game's AI is complete and utter fuckery. One would think, "let's not make a DLC centered around one of our games' biggest flaw!" but I'm guessing there's an embargo on common sense inside Bethesda's offices.

Well it's better to stick with robots so that way they don't have to put effort into writing actual people with personalities in the game(which they can't do very well). Atleast with robots, the robot personalities and animations will fit this DLC.

I forgot about the Bullet Sponges ><
Who wants to bet that there would be a Legendary Robot every ten minutes that mutates because Fuck Science.

Fallout 4 is a game made by casuals for casuals. Interplay's slogan was "by gamers for gamers" and Bethesda's should be "by idiots for idiots"

They likely have plans to revisit paid mods and 2 of these "DLC" are in fact things that modders do for free.

Funny that original Fallout 3 quest featuring Mechanist has more variety than most quests in Fallout 4. And probably than this DLC will have.
Even though I really don't like that quest.

They've already said they have no plans for paid mods.

They're definetly considering it and will probably do it to consume more money from their fans.
There's some articles already claiming Pete Hines has stated that they plan to "revisit paid mods in the future."

Even this one contains language that definitely implies they will be implementing it in the future: http://www.gamespot.com/articles/bethesda-talks-skyrims-paid-mods-controversy/1100-6428952/

There are more dialogue choices and player decisions in that Fallout 3 side-quest than the entirety of Fallout 4.

So most of the money will go to BethSoft instead of the actual people who make it?

Bethesda Studios. The overlords of stupid ideas.

I didn't mind the whole paid mods thing.
But only if the people who made the mods get the money.

Plus it worked out so well for them last time, why would they do it again?
Isn't that like sticking a fork in a plug, getting electrocuted, then doing it again an hour later?
