Mods that would make Fallout 4 fun

Look, Ma! Two Heads!
Almost all of us agree that Fallout 4 is garbage....well, not quite garbage, it's a medicore game and a TERRIBLE story. Instead of focusing on what we'd want changed about the story and dialouge, let's think out what we would change MECHANICALLY to make the game more fun. I personally have never played a Far Cry game, but I hve played Skyrim and New Vegas and I have some ideas of what modders could do with the mechanics to make it interesting:

1. Fallout Shelter character mechanics: have settlers have names and form families and make babies and you can train the adults with special fascilities to make them smarter or stronger and send them out on missions instead of you.

2. Hunting. Specifically making something like Hunterborn for Skyrim: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/33201/?

3. Horses, and not just for you. Have raiders sweep down in force and try and pillage your settlement on horseback like Mongols, or come up in boats like Vikings. Have them harass and besiege communities so they can't go out and you know, slavage or trade or gather food.

4. Helgen Reborn:
Take pre-existing cities like Concord and Lexington or parts of Boston and and basically play a bunch of missions to take back the area, stop things from spwaingand the place will slowly repair and clean itself as you do quests.

The thing is with a Bethesda game, you'll never have fun with it while giving a damn about the main story. Although in this case, the story isn't so dumb it hurts your brain (Fallout 3), it's just badly written.

>"Map Resize Project" - i know it would be a gargantual task but Fallout 4 map would need to be resized like 5-10 times while retaining the amount of locations. Unlike Skyrim, i never felt lost in F4, i never just wander off in random direction and just travel through forest or mountains. There was never a moment where i got caught in the open by a radstorm or night, far from a settlement and shelter - you know what im saying.

>"Settlement Redux" - remove all of those small fucking locations that are your settlements ( Hangman Alley, Coastal Cottage, that type of shit ) and instead leave the player with 4-5 MASSIVE ones that allow player to really go nuts with building. Im talking about something like V111-SHills-RedRocket-Concord combined size, Croup Manor that takes the entire Nahant Penninsula etc.

>"I own it" - make the every item in the pre existing inhabited location OWNED and one that needs to be stolen. It really fucks my Alternative Starts thief/escaped slaves playthroughs when im suppose to be poor and struggle to survive but i can literally waltz into locations and just take everything including meds, ammo and weapons.

>"Im the Boss" - make the end game fun by allowing you to have some unique features depending on the faction you supported - MM gives you the ability to command and deploy squads of soldiers, handle recruitment, training, logistics and equipment, Institute gives you the ability to perform some experiments, breeding creatures, producing synths, BOS gives you access to BOS armoury and Paladins backup etc etc etc ( I have no idea what RR should have nor would i care - im trying to forget they even exist in this game )

Of course i dont include stuff like "Make choices matter " or "have a fucking RPG elements in the dialogue" because that would mean making another game.

2. Hunting. Specifically making something like Hunterborn for Skyrim: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/33201/?

That combined with making guns/ammo more scarce and some more crafting would make a nice alternative playstyle.

3. Horses, and not just for you. Have raiders sweep down in force and try and pillage your settlement on horseback like Mongols, or come up in boats like Vikings. Have them harass and besiege communities so they can't go out and you know, slavage or trade or gather food.

Seeing people's interpretations of horse mutations could be interesting.

I'd like to see something akin to "Powered Power Armor." http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/37983/?
I liked the variety in that better than what we got from bethesda, plus a bitching betty..

Yeah, it's one of the many, many aspects of Fallout 4 that is good at its core but is bogged down by laziness. All the armor parts fit on the same frames? No improvements to be made to the frames? Fuck no.
Have different types of frames instead, one for T-45/T-60 (T-60 is BoS-improved T-45, deal with it), one for T-51 and one for APA. The frames have different stats for strength increase and fuel lifetime. T-45/60 is common but uses normal energy cells that run out, T-51 and APA are rare and require only a single refueling operation but then operate indefinitely (nuclear fuel doesn't last forever, and I think it's only fair to have the player jump through some hoops to let them use these frames). Refueling these frames is tricky and requires some more effort, though. An option would be to convert the original generators of these frames to energy cell use like the T-45/60.
Add more frame modifications that affect fuel economy and stats. Using T-60 plates requires modifications to T-45 frames.
Plates only fit the correct frame, of course.
Also, maybe add a "civilian" frame, like a powerloader that was used for construction work.

Other mods that would be good besides the obvious "add actual gameplay" mods are, as mentioned above, "Blow up mapsize" and, adding to that, working vehicles. Just let us drive the Highwayman again. Or at least a motorcycle.

I think to a degree FO4 had some cool upgrades for power armour which are feasable with postwar techies, but IMO i'm betting 5 bucks they based it off that mod.

Oh and mod that replaces Corvega with a glassed impact crater of a nuke...
That fucking place tanks my fps even when just looking at it from the distance, even at night...

I never purchased Fallout 4 to this day today still since November 10th, 2015, but Steam did have Fallout 4 for a free weekend on May 26th, 2017 to May 29th, 2017 and I played for a total of thirty eight hours.

These are the mods that would make playing Fallout 4 more enjoyable for me to play from what I played.

A mod that adds back the armor and weapons degradation system.

A mod that adds bullet crafting.

A mod that makes ALL NPC's killable.

A mod that removes the dialogue wheel and adds back the texts lines sentences. I know there is a mod for this already, but when you see the four choices you always get and that they are always a Yes, Yes, No, Yes (Sarcasm), shows how badly written Bethesda Game Studios wrote the dialogue and quests in Fallout 4.

A mod that removes the four choices Yes, Yes, No, Yes (Sarcasm) dialogue options and has better dialogue written for NPC's and quests.

Here's a picture I have saved for two years almost from the mod, when some person posted it on a website that I don't remember what website it was from, that shows how bad the writing in Fallout 4 is.

That's about all the mods for now that I can think of that would make playing Fallout 4 more enjoyable for me to play.

Hell to the no, unless its realistic 10 000 bullets fired before maintnance is needed.
That's not unrealistic in a "kid with a hammer" game that for the most part only offers shooting.

I would add that incoming attacks that strike the weapon, should contribute to its degradation and need for maintenance.

Have the Raider faction actually have an impact in the main game (such as a Raider ending that kicks every other factions' ass by doing things Orky and blowing shit up by stocking nukes in an area and squeezing the trigger).

Have Unarmed actually be fun with attack animations, and dual-wielded weapons. More variety and crazier weapon mods.

Nicer looking armor pieces instead of "let's make everything look fat". i mean ffs, Why does Heavy Combat and Heavy Metal Chest pieces have the main front torso piece look like they're sagging?....why?

Weapon breaking after 10 shots is extremely unrealistic, BORING and simply turns game into chore.
AR-15 has something between 10k to 18k rounds before maintnance is needed - if you want that plus a huge overhaul of repair mechanics with different parts swapping, cleaning kits etc - im absolutely for it.
If its gonna look like in F3/NV where Assault Rifle breaks after firing 2 magazines - hell no.

K, horsies died out in the Fallout universe but k... Then again, so did the cats according to Mr House, yet they appeared in the best game ever (Fallout 4).

What game are you playing? Not even fucking Fallout 3 did this.
Fallouts 3 double barreled shotgun begins to jam after 50 shots ( from full durability ) and breaks after ~120..
Combat shotgun breaks after ~150.
Hunting Rifle after ~130
So yeah, maybe not 10 but still absurd and immersion breaking amount.

Weapon durability is Bugfestas excuse to give good shit early and not have it break the game. Just like Power Armour in F4 and their retarded fusion cores for something that was specifically stated to last a looong time.
