Here is the joke. It never was a communist country.

It tried to be one, but it has been not even that for like 2 decades already with the being full on capitalists nowadays, yet some people still think they are the Soviet Union still.

Even worse are the people who think that anyone Russian is suddenly an evil anti american terrorist.

It's a it complicated, the Soviet leadership like Lenin and Stalin knew that they havn't been communist but a Socialist State. Marx Theory was that a communist society was the end of a capitalist one. Russia, never went trough a phase of capitalism, so this was a bit of an oxymoron. And the Soviet leadership was quite aware about that issue.

Crni... nobody thinks Russia is communist because of complicated leadership issues, odd historical chronology or any other difficulty in interpreting the various socio-political and philosophical aspects of the issue. They think Russia is communist cus theyre dumb.

I blew the mind of some idiot today because he was convinced Russia was communist. Then he has the gal to tell me he reads a lot... then he shows me the Supermarket shelf junk books he reads. The world of civilian politics is so fucked.

I guess it doesn't matter if you read a lot if all you read is junk.

The Ultra right wing is preying on Venezuelans, it's actually a bit scary.

They're at it everywhere. I don't really understand what the end goal is, for the whole movement as of late. Who are they afraid of in Venezuela btw, there's hardly any muslims at all

I am suspecting the classic tactic of trojan horsing extremism by adressing their legitimate concerns and then slowly subject them to their junk literature to turn them into propaganda spewing drones.

Well Venezuela is going through a terrible economic crisis due to the poor management of the Maduro government. Hugo Chaves initial success was too dependant on oil and they failed to diversify their industry and now that the US is getting all their oil from the Middle East, the Venezuelan crude is worthless.

Lots of venezuelas are convinced that the failure wasn't due to the corruption and the over dependance on Oil but because "Leftism" due to the preying of the Ultra right wing. JJ Rendon is an infamous "anti communist activist" who is involved in a lot of propaganda campaigns and dirty politics, up to straight up bot farms to spread fake news.

And then the person somehow has lived under Maduro, Mujica and Lula's governments. Either this guy is just unlucky and going from one leftis government to the next, or he is just bullshiting.

Things like this is making me want a "fast forward" function to life. Sometimes all I want to know is how much shit people plan to wreck, directly or indirectly through sheepish adherence to whatever populism is in the air as of late. As long as they won't wreck any of *my* shit, or anyone close to me, they can just go on as they want. But... that's the constant worry...

I hate when people try to make my worries come off as fatalistic, they always pretend as if catastrophic strife is unheard of in the world. They always go "oh, but thaaat - " whenever you point out ANY catastriphic outcome of politics, then go right back to pretending disasters never happen

The guy didn't know Peronism was a mostly right wing government either. This is what social media is doing to politicis, someone should order the immediate destruction of Twitter.
