    Fallout: New Vegas developers quotes

I'm not offended, I just think that if there is confusion where there should be clarity, then there is a problem. About the perk: I don't really care if no one understands it because I do! But if people don't get it, even if they're not "worthy" of designing for, wouldn't it be better if they...

    Fallout: New Vegas developers quotes

I think I need to clarify: I've seen about a 50/50 split of people knowing and not knowing that that perk means; with that I'm seeing quite a few folks not knowing what a "Conformed Bachelor" is. Personally, I'm not sure how I would have interpreted the perk as I read about the confusion first...

    Fallout: New Vegas developers quotes

I think Obsidian should have gone though some more play testing to fully convey the meaning behind the "Confirmed Bachelor" perk. I mean, you can't tell your audiance that they're wrong. If something doesn't make sense to a majority of the audiance then the designer did something wrong.

    FOOL Newsletter #3

If you click the "?" at the top right there's an area that says that there are "known bugs with the text processor" and brings up strange characters. However, who wants to bet that there's a secret message some where in there?

Fallout: New Vegas DLC announced - Dead Money

As much as I hate spending more money, I mostly agree with this. In terms of immersion, DLC's are also a bit of an interupt. They won't be near as exciting as, say, the next mission in a game's story. If I bought DLCs then I would play it after I completed and put away the original game. (Unless...

Fallout: New Vegas DLC announced - Dead Money

I could be wrong about this being a game development strategy, but I really dislike the idea of a game design team having the full intent of making DLC's along side their core game to simply make more money after their core game is released. I don't like the goal of "making a complete and good...

    Letterpress fallout posters

I made these two posters around 4 years ago when I was in college. They had an old letterpress with woodblocks and ink that we used on some projects. Video games of my past inspire me, so I used Fallout as some inspiration. So, eh, I thought I'd share. Sorry for graphic heaviness!

    FONV feels unfinished

I think inaccessible doors/locked doors without keys is a bit crap when it comes to game design. In design, I believe everything should have a reason and explanation (if requested) on why it is there. I really shouldn't have to think "Oh, I went through the entire game and I still haven't found...

5 million copies of Fallout: New Vegas shipped says Bethesda

You know, I wouldn't mind a iPhone/iPad/Something created by Obsidian that was a turn based game similar to the original Fallouts. Case really, we won't see a isometric turn based Fallout game unless there's a "practical marketing reason" for it. Sort of like "Fallout 3: Tactics" or...

Ice-T Loves New Vegas, says it has too much talking.

That sort of defeats the purpose, doesn't it? I could just "roleplay" that my character wasted 20 minutes rather than waste 20 minutes of my own time if I'm going to just press Q and walk away.

FOOL developer quotes and court case update

I know these are just forum posts from Chris and not official press releases, but wouldn't it seem sort of risky to say "We are trying to keep the spirit of FO1/2?" I'd imagine a large chunk of their audience would be coming from Fallout 3 fans that haven't played the originals. Maybe it's a...

    Its a trap!

I think it was mostly a business decision and partly a cool idea to let some original devs play around with a familiar IP while both parties still making money. I think the importance of "making the original fans happy" was pretty far down the totem pole for Bethesda considering how they handled...

    Direction of New Vegas' DLC

The game world in New Vegas is really close to NCR and Vault 15. And vault 15 is extremely close to "Area 51." I was really apathetic when it came to Fallout 3's DLCs (I never bought or played them), but if Obsidian can expand the New Vegas world with Van Buren and Fallout 1-2 content? That...

Fallout: New Vegas Reviews Roundup #4

For such a buggy game I'm seeing pretty high reviews there.

Fallout: New Vegas has bugs. News still at 11.

Oh god! No. No! NO GET AWAY FROM ME! Hahaha, that was hilarious. Too bad all it's doing is making Obsidian look bad.. :(

Posted: All perks. Plus: friend perks & hardcore info

Power armor training is weird for me because it seems like lazy game design. In the original Fallouts, there were only a handful of ways you could get your hands on power armor, that made it more rewarding and believable. However, in Fallout 3, if some one with power armor died near you, you...

Things you *aren't* pleased to see

The Fallout bible menioned some stuff about the Vault's purpose: I agree with this, I like to think that it's yet another haunting from the past and the intended social experiment never fleshed out because everyone died. I'd imagine the Overseers kept the experiment alive because they didn't...

    Fallout: New Vegas soundtrack blog

That was a great read. One of the things that I highly appreciate and really stuck out for me was to include inspiration from There Will be Blood. I can't get that opening shot out of my head with that eerily interesting/depressing music. I think that would fit well in a Fallout setting...

Some of those are awful illustrations. Get. Out. Of. Illustrator. Grab a pen and ink like the originals, or at least get a graphics tablet!
