A Few New Fallout 4 Rumours "Revealed" on Reddit

First time out of the vault
Not to say this is a credible source, I just found the information given to be intriguing.

First and foremost, the game will take place in Boston, and be kind of a direct sequel to Fallout 3 with a few groups returning.
From what it sounds like, "The Institute" is pretty much the downtown DC or New Vegas of this game. Boston is going to be unlike anything we've seen in a Fallout game before, with buildings more on par with cyberpunk and retro-futurism.

Androids play a big part in this game. The railroad from Fallout 3 is a faction. The enemies of the railroad is "the Plantation" -- a group who force Androids to farm so that Humans can get food. The Institute is highly advanced and probably obtained or built their own GECK to start a farm.

Due to complaints about using Super Mutants and the Brotherhood of Steel in Fallout 3 excessively and going against the lore too much, Bethesda has decided to avoid using these groups. Bethesda wants to make a new "race" (think Ghoul, Super Mutant) which will be central to Boston. Bethesda is currently looking at Lovecraftian fiction since Boston is around "Lovecraft Country".

Bethesda has no plans to reinvent the leveling up system to make it more like Skyrim and want to make Fallout 4 more distinct from Skyrim since of the complaints that Oblivion and Fallout 3 were too similar. Bethesda is thinking about introducing a system, similar to Skyrim, where your skills can level up if you perform certain tasks.

Again, this source is not to be taken credibly, it's contents just seem interesting.

Very interesting. Especially the less BoS and Super Mutants. As long as they don't lean too heavy on Cyberpunk that will be alright. Either way, I'm very cautious on this one.

It probably is, and even if it wasn't, it'd probably still be pretty awful. Bethesda and etc. Instead of Super Mutants you'll have innsmouth frogmonsters or something dumb.

Remember the fake stuff someone posted prior to FNV release. I wouldn't give much on such rumors at any time.

Also the last sentence is contradicting itself.

1. Bethesda has no plans to reinvent the leveling up system to make it more like Skyrim and want to make Fallout 4 more distinct from Skyrim since of the complaints that Oblivion and Fallout 3 were too similar.

2. Bethesda is thinking about introducing a system, similar to Skyrim, where your skills can level up if you perform certain tasks.

So will it be or will it not be more distinct? You can flip a coin, I'll guess.

Also, "Ghoul Super Mutant" - yeah, that's really so much different than a Super Mutant.

I personally call bullshit on all of it. :>

Actually, they'll probably make it dragons. Mutant dragons. Mutant zombie dragons. Y'know, cause dragons are awesome.

Or mutant flying octopi called Cthulagons that give you random perks when you kill them.

also I'm writting this from my 3DS.

I was pretty much turned off when I heard that androids will play a bigger role in the storyline, and the crap like the Plantation.

So in a world that is basically starved for resources you use advanced technology to create androids so you can use them as farmers.
It is nice to see these people are above using regular 'human' slaves but why not reprogram pre war robots like Mr Handys and so on instead of making androids.

While the Cthulhu mythos has indeed very creative monsters that could be a source of inspiration for new kinds of mutants I still feel that this is mangling the Fallout lore and concepts.

As for the new level system, it sounds like something fans would want but it has nothing in common with SPECIAL.

I call this all fan speculation and bullshit.

Agreed, Dutch Ghost. I thought they were dumb in FO3 (whoopdeedo, a Nueromancer and Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep reference!), though it was probably one of the better quests in the game.

I love that you can create totally-identical-to-humans androids, but instead of applying that technology to cleaning up the place or the like, you just have them work as farmers. Sure, you could use your amazing future technology to work out some sort of hydroponics system or anything resembling that at all, but nope, fuck it, lets make people be farmers.

I could almost buy it if they were using them like they did in DADOE, making them work in extra-hazardous conditions, for the survival/benefit/luxury of humans. Provided the setting and everything else was different. If it were some sort of cyberpunk utopia IN a post apocalyptic wasteland. Last bastion of society in the uncivilized, radioactive wastes. That kind of thing.

Ugh. This game is going to be a disappointment, even if all that info is false. I'm calling it now, you can't trust Bethesda with Fallout.

If Bethesda is going to write the storyline and the design, it would suck as much as FO3.

:(

At this point I think I am not gonna play it... preffer to use my time playing passing again FO2 for 37564567687 time rather than get another disappointment from them.

what?

i am at a loss for words as to how dumb this is.

this is worse than fallout 3's story.

I wouldn't read to much into it. Even Bethesda isn't idiotic enough to do shit like this.

Its all fake bullshit. Every few months or year or so someone comes onto NMA claiming to have information on the next Fallout game, and the information is always extremely ridiculous (like andriods working on a plantation, and a faction being called "the plantation"). And its always a new account that seems to post it.

This should be vatted.

You mean what just happened? You can't exemplify a situation with itself.

I think you underestimate them. While I'm inclined to think that this story is fake (it's just too early for any information), this story is perfectly matches all their other games - in "depth" of the story, in lame attempts on stupid jokes (Wazer Wifle? the name was invented by some brilliant 5 y.o. boy, I suppose), in lame attempts to introduce some high morals to the game, and so on.

Have you played Skyrim? The game is all about wandering from place to place, killing stuff and using magic shit. The story just doesn't matter. It's just their style, I suppose. Fallout games require... what? some story? Ok, here is your story, now fuck off. Fallout games supposed to have some humor in them? Ok, we'll do our best - the next brainstorm's topic is "humor"! Something like that.

I fail to see what you're supposing. The name is fitting considering you do actually get it from some brilliant five year old boy

The name is fucking stupid is what it is.

Rename it in the GECK. Problem solved. Takes five minutes. Sure I won't deny they aren't very good at a lot of stuff, but that gun was named appropriately. I'm down for Bethesda bashing as much as the next guy, but a gun named by a little kid, would have a silly name like that. :|
