the problem is that it doesnt even make sense when you go deeper into the character history.

* his parents killed when he was 10
* he comes out of the vault at 14
* add the fact that Zoe said they spend a bit more than a year, maybe two in the vault.
:arrow: that makes his parents get killed 2 years before the bombs fell. even with the internal polical conflicts in Europe, there wasnt an open war like in China, Canada & the US. raiders would get wiped out by the governement (that probably already was on a high state of alert).

what it could possibly be, is a militia that was preparing for it (although portugal nor spain have a past that include any kind of militia such as they are found in the US) or riots like you say specialist. although these riots should have a seperate cause (not the bombs, since they fall only 2 years later).
 
just to fix a few things up about the raiders........when i said that i didn't mean the raiders you all know and love from Fallout but i just called them raiders instead of rioters but the fallout raiders and these ones have no relation.

and after rob's parents were killed he was living on the streets and he wouldn't exactly be able to turn on the tv to watch the news and see if the radiers/rioters were killed or not.......maybe they were maybe they weren't.

heres what i mean.
10 years old:parents killed wants revenge on raiders/rioters.

11 to 12:forced to live on the streets,became thief,unsure if raiders/rioters killed or not.

13:let into the vault due to his age.

14:is now leaveing vault,still unsure of the status of raiders/rioters.

The changes on my character, and on my ICC post will be edited next week.

I do not have the time in the weekend since I am going on a weekend trip.
(Well, maybe I get the time to do it on sunday, we'll see!)

Sure. You guys are to be traveling in what is a whole new world for you and face dangers untold ;) Along the way you will find new allies (the other players and possible some npc, depending on what you do) and foes (also the other players and possible some npc, depending on what you do).

Hey you will get surprises so it will be worth the while!

As for now, go and post - UNfortunatly I have to go now, but this sunday I will move the story forward to outside the vault.

a little comment:

try to invent your own mutations rather than going for the standard FO1&2 ones. technically, brahmin, radscorpions, floaters, centaurs & mantis are supposed to have mutated due to FEV, not just radiation (according to the fallout bible). logically, these mutations would only happen in california (and maybe some other places in the US if the winds were favorable when the nukes hit the researchfacility).

so, dig into your own mind and invent mutated roaches, dogs, cats and so on. also keep in mind that the war only happened recently and that the mutations would be first generation (real animals mutating instantly, rather than evolving by offspring & generation after generation).
 
something tells me those are not so common in spain :p

hold that thought for northern france, belgium, germany,... ;)
 
8) Oh well. Remeber I said there will be surprises? If I talk too much about them they are not going to be a surprise :D But yes, I am going to put in some stuff you guys are not used to - and it includes live beings of unexpected look/constitution/etc .
 
Maybe I'll take Kahgans wild boar idea into my adventure from Paris to Spain.

Wonder how a mutated would have looked.
 
in the "lower middle" of france are some very old rounded off mountains. lots of trees there. suitable environment for boars.

also keep in mind the climate of southern france probably became a bit hotter and dryer.
 
He guys apparently we all have a different idea of the time and surroundings right after we leave the vault, and I suggest we let Zoe decide which we will stick to before we keep posting in 3 or 4 different realities of the same story.
 
euhm who doesnt agree with eachother?

melchoir just started off in a french vault, you guys start off in portugal near the spanish border. where's the disagreement?
 
Hey folks

The thread is complex, since it deals with both time and space to which you are not used to (excet for the falloutesque feel and style). And to add to that, yes, we do have two different lines, so to speak, cause one group started in Portugal and Kristian (of Kahgan) started in France. With attention all will run smoothly. Yes you are free to add some details and todevelop your character, just dont put anything groudshaking before asking me ;)
Wild mutated boars fit the scenario, Melchoir - and thank you Suaside for your input: I agree with that, and Melchoir, you can use that as guideline for now.

Folks with characters elsewhere (not in Portugal nor in France), you can post already, such as Khagan posted the begining of his character in France.

My character is named Kristian and has started in France.
Kahgans character is in Portugal, and his name is Rein.
 
Before I post I'd appreciate a quick summary of who's characters are where and each of our current situations.

Also I find it unlikely that the outskirts of a town be nuked instead of the heart.

Now i am going to give you all a quick lesson in nuclear physics. There are 1000 kilotons in one megaton.

Assuming a 180 KILOTON nuke was detonated in New York at the base of the empire state building it would flatten almost the entire Manhatten island.


The average nuclear missiles today are usually 10 MEGATONS or more.

That means if any nuke from any of the countries with decent nuclear capabilities decided to nuke Portugal It would level pretty much half of the country. Also this is based on the assumption that only ONE country decides to nuke them and that different countries don't have reasons as well. This could mean three or more countries deciding to rid the world of Portugal.


There would be NO buildings.
