A new day has come (New Mission) - [OoC]

the answer? tactical low yield warheads

probably shot up a base nearby, but obviously not in the town itself.

btw: if they really did some heavy nuking on portugal you wouldnt be coming out after 2 years in a vault now would you :)
portugal isn't a real threat to anyone, so lets assume it just got nuked to cripple it's military, not to whipe it out...

@pyropheonix - Speculation. You haven't seen it in action. I'm not saying it's wrong. I'm just not saying it's right. And assuming that America is the only country with good nukes (most likely true), why the hell would it nuke Portugal? There are better, FAR more threatening targets out there. It'd probably be a country with worse capabilities that would nuke portugal, someone close by like maybe France. There is no reason why it isn't acceptable for a small shitty nuke to have hit that city, or even the outskirts of it since - as i've said - it is a shitty nuke with an equally shitty guidance system.

the idea behind why everyone nuked everyone is simple: to even it out.

say france, germany and the UK get hit, that means spain and italy (and simular countries) would gain a tremendous amount of power over the region. so to make sure that that doesnt happen you nuke eachother.

you also have to remember that at first the European Union banded together and waged war against the arab oil nations. that war came to a hold when it became obvious that their oil had run dry too. after which the EU pretty much disbanded and began to argue amongst themselves.

as for the "shitty nuke"-thing: dont make me laugh. france has equal nukes to the US (but of course less in number), u've been fed by propaganda i think. so does the UK for that matter.

you also have to remember that nukes are not rare thing in the FO world. terrorists even used one to blow up Tel Aviv in 2053. it is very probable that smaller less important countries also built up an arsenal (maybe simply bought old nukes off crumbling countries like russia)

I assumed that the outscirts was hit harder because the town wasn't nuked itself, it just took damage from nukes elsewhere..hell, you wouldn't find living stuff in a city that was nuked nearly two years ago, wouldn't even be a single building standing, if it wasn't like SuAside sugested, low yield tactical warhead.

IT might not have been nuked at all, the damage to the buildings could have happened from conventional airstrikes or battle damage, its not like all the buildings are just the foundations...Its quite possible a battle or battles where fought nearby after the bombs dropped or before.

Incase any of you didn't know. Firing low yield warheads in a full nuclear war is like bringing a knife to a gunfight. Many middle eastern nations have nuclear weapons capable of yielding a few megatons and china and Russia at this point n time have more warheads than the U.S. and Russia hold the record for the most destructive yield at a pants shitting 53 megatons.

Furthermore since Zoe said it was nuked. It means it was nuked. there shouldnt be anything but piles of rubble. Houses would be pretty much destroyed seeing as anything within a mile that holds direct line of sight to a nuke is hit with 500 calories per square centimeter. That will yes .........incinerate wood, humans and anything else not made of steel.

I've been reading these last posts and I simply don't get it.
So, let me get this straigth...
Aren't the fiction stories suppose to be fiction?
I agree that they have to got a grade of realism, but some of these affirmations here imply that the fallout universe could not exist as it is seen on the game, this includes FO1, FO2 and FOT.

So let's just ease down a little. Cause if you get with the original fallout universe, no matter how untrue the fallout universe is (like there is not had been a nuclear war yet... and never i hope), with all due respect, you'll get me upset. Please don't take this as an offense.

Maybe by saying "it was nuked" she meant that some of it's destruction was felt there?

it all comes down to different views and preferences

some RPers like it realistic, some like it total fantasy, some want parts of both.

to put it simply Pyro, if it you had your way, there would be no RP at all. we are talking about an RP where the vault dwellers surface after 2 years. they wouldnt have any problem pissing at night as their piss would light up like a fucking christmastree (yes i am aware that radiation doesnt do that, thank you). End of RP, everybody dead, please insert coins.

anyhow this is pointless. it's a pissing contest...

the town was partially destroyed ok? how? who cares, you werent there now were you? god sat down and farted right on top of the town. instantly ruined by holy gasses. that good for anyone?

if i had to put all my energy into correcting what other people do wrong in RPs i'd be in a mental institution... so just have fun, and try to work out the errors other made without destroying previous posts. build on what is written and take it from there.

note to gonzales: it isnt always like this, dont worry... i think the kinda rough setting of the RP is to blame, there were no clear guidelines, no clear descriptions everyone agreed on. (this is no personal attack at you Zoe, it's not really your fault either)
although you can be certain there will always be someone that rubs your hair the wrong way, Gonzales.

You know what Suaside. I am beginning to like the way you think. You are good at arguing too.

Whatever I don't have problems with standing structures, but I just thought I'd state a few facts.

i'm good at ranting

which is far from the same

Hello...

Been out a while and a heated discussion arises!

Oh well, lets see:

1) Yes, the game has the tendency of realism and plausibility BUT please keep in mind its fiction. We are playing a game. I considered that if I made everybody spend long years in the vaults waiting to leave it would become boring or the characters would know each other too well (which btw could be boring too and hard to rp) So I took the literary license (as in the expression poetic license), meaning i would distort things a bit for gaming sake. This is why in our game it was possible that in such a short period of time our heroes were able to leave the vault. I also wanted the initial landscape to be that of a desolated city. As you may see, one of the themes I am developing in this game is Hope against Dream. Our heroes had the will to go outside, had expectations and even perhaps one image of what they could find - but now are facing the reality. A few buildings standing are a literal representation of Hope (duh I am getting too authorish here - I better stop the dissecation before I kill my patient! :)

Sufice to say this: we will have plausibility and realism but take it with a grain of salt. Certain details defnatly are not going to be lifelike (hence, whenever you have a doubt, feel confused, etc ask here and we will see to that. Also, feel free to make suggestions!

2 - Oh dear, seems I made a slight confusion about char names, eh? Humans do that now and then. Dont take it personaly ;)

Ok, I am glad to see the argument that spawned here ended up with reason. A friendly and mature attitude. Way to go, guys!

Now, onto playing! ;)

Cheers,

Zoe

Zoe can you post me a list of the characters and where they are and who they are teamed up with cause I dont wanna mess up a post and I have no idea of the setting

Here is a list of characters and where they are.

If I am not mistaken, there is still one character that has not been approved yet (waiting for the player to edit/add a few tidbits to the character sheet)

IN a Vault in Portugal: The characters of Fithero and Gonzalez (will make their debut in the game any moment now)

From Vault in Portugal (and now in the nearby city): Zeij, Guerrit/Swa, Cody, Rob

From Vault in France (and now in a city nearby): Rein, Kristien

In a spanish Hub: Apple

Ezekiel/Zeke,you can start at the vault and leave along with the new characters.

Hug,

Zoe

euh Zoe you gotta pay more attention ;-))

anyhow this is more correct imo:

Not in game yet: The characters of Alba, Fithero and Gonzalez (will make their debut in the game any moment now)

From Vault in Portugal (and now in the nearby city): Zeij, Cody, Rob, Rein, Daniel

From Vault in France (and now in a city nearby): Kristian

Traveling the wastes (Spanish & Portugese border): Swa the ghoulish nomad

Somewhere in a spanish or portugese Hub: Apple

yeah, i havent got the slightest bloody idea of hom im gonna get into this game aye...fully lost
