And yet even with all that they still managed to make one of the best games of all time in just a year, not just the best Fallout game. Obsidian is truly a master of getting things done not only in a timely manner, but knowing how to re-use resources to the fullest extent so they can make the best game possible without overbudgeting. Look at Tyranny for example, their latest game. Re-uses textures from POE (mainly miscellaneous objects and small items like potions and food) but there's also a ton of new stuff they made from scratch, and it's also one of my favorite games currently.
Meanwhile Bethesda claims they took SEVEN YEARS to work on Fallout 4 and not only is it the most bare-bones "RPG" I've ever seen in my entire life, they didn't include jack shit from New Vegas. No Traits, no Wild Wasteland which helps explain goofy things that shouldn't be there (looking at you alien UFO randomly crashing out of the sky FO4..), none of the skills really matter outside of adding an extra percentage (in other words, there's no perks that rely on other perks or perks that are opposite of each other, like how Cannibal works with Mutant Eater and how Imperialist is the opposite of Fight the Power!), barely any extra perks that can be acquired outside of missions, all the companions are cardboard cutouts or complete tropes, the setting and story are both plothole-riddled messes, there's no challenge system, and so forth and so on, I could go all day.
The point is, even when Obsidian is being fucked in the ass by their current overlord, they still manage to make the most of their time and pull out all stops to make really really good games. (as another example, look at KOTOR II) Bethesda meanwhile fucks around for 7 years and gets nothing done yet still gets praised for it. It's like that old cartoon trope where you have one kid make this amazing project with all sorts of bells and whistles and it looks like he really put a lot of love and care into it, only for him to be ignored by everyone for the kid who put 2 googly eyes on a rock.
