Abstinence=Crap

I wouldn't go as far as to say that teenagers that dont want to have sex dont have a pulse. I believe in abstaining from premartial sex, and most teens that dont have premarital sex have either strong religious roots or are just aware of the advantages of abstaining.
Good for you, and good for them. But this is completely useless because you do not believe in abstinence because you were taught abstinence, but because you are religious. Telling people who don't believe in abstinence that abstinence is good does not work, simply because they don't give a shit.
Teaching them how to have safe sex isn't going to encourage them to have sex, but it is going to show them how to have safe sex if they decide to have sex.

On a lighter note it is easer for the "butt ugly" to join the ranks of the sexually active, as there are more and more ugly people and ugly people need love too........
Except that ugly people still want beautiful people.

That still doesn't stop them from humping the retard.

Trust me, I just got out of the Oklahoma high school system a few years ago, and the two people that talked the most about their sexual conquests were the jocks/preps, and the uglies. Ugly kids had more action than those of us with plain features because their standards were so low.

Hell, when you don't have sex for a long time, your standards will start dropping as well.

Pinning the Abstinance problem entirely on Bush isn't exactly fair. I recall abstinance being the norm during the Clinton era of bullshit educational policy, and its carried over into Bush bullshit educational policy.

The difference now, is that Abstinance is being promoted more aggressively, in the face of evidence contrary to its objective.

Also, while the motives for these programs are on a moral basis (and really, we wouldn't think that 14 year olds shouldn't be having sex without some moral basis), the actual programs as I remember them made no claim that sex was wrong. The focus of abstinance education isn't to tell kids that sex is wrong, don't do it, but rather that its a bad idea to do it before many of us even have jobs or careers that would act as support for any unforseen circumstances that arise from frequent intercourse.

In other words, its not like they were telling us directly "Don't do it, its wrong," but "Don't do it right now, its a bad idea."

Which it was, at our time of age. But of course, kids are stupid, and do it anyways. Hell, I would've had I the opportunity. I mean, who doesn't want to have sex with a 16 year old? That's why we have statuotory rape.

Bradylama- at one point you say save sex till college and then "who doesn't want to have sex with a 16 year old." Dude, you got issues.

Take a tip- Get off the 16 year old!

And Bob- now we understand the whole "I love guns" thing you got going. Lack of sex leads to violence bud. Just look at the Muslim terrorists- these guys come from a society where they aren't supposed to be "gettin any." No wonder they fly airplanes into buildings.

As for abstinence programs- Hey if the person wants to abstain- great. That plenty of folks don't want to screw before they get married is fine if that's their choice.

I have heard that it keeps married couples together- people who abstain before marriage tend not to get divorce- but maybe because that's also a religious thing.

At my university we had an issue that so many of the undergrads were virgins when they came to the University- I have a question with regard to how they test that variable.

But sexual education should be about sexual health. If you want to abstain, then fine. You avoid lots of possible problems. Personally, if you are going to screw around then you should learn protection, and if sexual education fails to teach that, it fails. This is a question of public service more than an ideology that preaches that "every sperm is sacred."

Honestly, I can see abstaining while in high school, but if you're still abstaining when you graduate, you've missed out on something.

Also, consider the pressure to marry if you haven't gotten any yet- might this not lead to some crappy choices in spouses? You marry because you're horny and end up marrying an awful person, but you don't divorce because it's against your religion = fucked up. A friend of mine, a Muslim guy, had this exact experience - and talk about living a miserable existence.

Dude, you got issues.

At least I'm honest. :o

You marry because you're horny and end up marrying an awful person

Anybody that marries just becuase they're horny is either increadibly stupid, or already caged into this situation due to religious conviction like your Muslim friend.

The only thing that should pressure people into marriage is fear of loneliness, and that's still not a good idea.

So, I can't really say I care for their stupidity.

Also, just so we're clear, my last post was intended to clear up some misconceptions about the abstinance program. I can't really speak for the rest of the country, but Oklahoma isn't exactly one of our more progressive-thinking states, and I heard no mention of God or morality during sexual education.

Well, considering the American TV & film industry is it any surprise. Kids are going to do what's on TV long before they listen to what a teacher says.

$130 million. What a joke. Oh well, at least its $130 million less going into war.

I didn't need television to figure out that big tits + tight shirt = hawt. Teens are perfectly capable of figuring these things out on their own. Unless, of course, you're living in a repressed society.

'sup Japan?

I'd much prefer a society that practices safe sex rather than "practices" abstinence. At least, we'd have less STDs and teen pregnancies to worry about that way.

They have anime and manga. It's worse. Not even real people porn.

I'm gonna be a stickler here, but pornographic anime and manga is generally referred to as Hentai.

And the Japanese have plenty of "real porn," if you could call it that. As freely available as porn is, even, penis and vagina is censored so that it can be sold in public venues. What's up with that?

Shows what I know. Hmm, maybe I should experience this Hentai you speak of. Not being a teenager or American for that matter I can have all the sex and porn I want. Yay me!

One single word that takes with it so much pain:
Tentakles
Never try Hentai, if you want to keep a stable mind.

welsh: even though i find the fact that you pointed out no sex=violence (wich got me laughing to tears) i agree with safe sex ed. but i also think that abstinence should be at least an under currant in safe sex teachings. I also agree that there is a lot of money going into teaching abstinence, that should be directed differently.

In the end abstinence is the way to go from my views, but i understand fully that compromise is needed.

I wholeheartedly agree with you, Bob. Abstaining yourself from any kind of sexual intercourse is the best solution for you.

Tentacle Hentai is tame compared to a lot of the weird shit that's out there. Gory Hentai and Elephantisis Hentai to be specific. I think I made a thread about it way back and it got closed.

I'm probably risking the minds of many even mentioning those sub-genres, but the World Must Know.

Yeah, some things should be spread to the general public, but others are best left to die a lonely, uninteresting death.

I always found hentai to be more than a little insane. But in some ways, it can even be funny..

eh.

Josan, if you want to retain what little sanity you have left, don't listen to Hentario and his 'recommendations', and for the love of God, don't click on any links he sends you.
