Add Angry Joe to the people who are helping to kill our franchise

First time out of the vault

That's Fallout 4 making Angry Joe's Top 10 of 2015 list. At #3. Now compound this with the fact that New Vegas did not make his Top 10 list in 2010. In fact, the whole entire year I don't think I heard him mention the game even once.

And there are people out there who consider Joe to be a valuable voice for the video game industry. Including Joe himself. Yet he is essentially acting as the "Corporate Commander" he purports to be against.

I urge everyone with a voice to make it heard and fight against the tide of people like Joe who are supporting the degradation of the Fallout franchise and video gaming as a whole

Anyone who didn't have a solid history with the Fallout series considers Bethesda to be one of the "greats", remember? As far as a lot of people are concerned, even the intelligent ones, Bethesda is one of the good companies like CD Projekt RED. They make good expansions, and they don't rip people off, or try shady business practices. They're seen as the opposite of EA and Ubisoft.

People see the same with companies like 2K and Square Enix. They're all in the same shade of "large corporation" but unless they've done real bad they're not seen as real bad. And for people who did not enjoy classic Fallout, they do not know of Bethesda taking the Fallout series and changing it drastically.

Also, it's Angry Joe. What did you expect?

So really, the worse way NMA can go about bringing classic Fallout back is to shout that Bethesda are corporate scum like EA, because the majority does not believe that. Bethesda Softworks, remember, are one of the "good guys" in the lineup. So try to acknowledge the fact that this is how they are seen. Even I give them a lot of trust and leniency I wouldn't give EA. This may be as a result of me growing up in the generation after a lot of NMAers, so I see it as normal. I guess that sucks in a way?

I only watched Angry Joe's videos once and I just thought they are not for me, thank you for reminding me of it :yuck:.

About Bethesda being a "good" company:
People have short memory, Bethesda was the one with Horse Armors DLC and the one that wanted paid mods (and I keep thinking that they will push that idea again one of these days, specially with mods on consoles and they have to be in Bethesda's network to be downloadable). I also start to think that they might make the GECK or any other CK for their games being paid too one of these days or at least a free basic GECK with VIP/GOLD/Pro paid version, "Thank you for using Bethesda Softworks GECK software, unfortunately you can't edit vanilla items using this free version, please click here and you can get the GECK Pro version which does not have that limitation, only $50". O.o

This is nothing new and he should already have been on everyone's list for 8+ years now:

Actually, they pushed for paid mods, failed and apologised. They brought up Horse Armour, apologised, then followed up with The Shivering Isles. It makes them look good, no matter what the truth is. As far as people are concerned, they fixed their mistakes.

They're not going to charge for GECK stuff. Their games' last resort is the modding community. No matter how bad they get, that is the hand that feeds and one that they're never going to bite off. GECK is the only way they can get away with not including features in sequels. It is not going the route of greedy business methods based on pure logic. It's more profitable for them to continue letting people mod for free rather than both ruin their reputation and disallow people from doing their jobs for them.

I'm less biased towards Bethesda as a whole simply because we just don't know the whole story. They haven't taken any corporate actions that was unsafe for their reputation, so it's hard to tell their alignment, despite a lot of people here assuming they're going the Ubisoft path.

Not really. Loud, brash, excessive, but enthusiastic about what he likes, is his signature style. He isn't going to change that. Besides, Angry Joe's lists of favourite games have led me to believe cRPGs were never his thing anyway, so as far as he's concerned, he's rating Fallout 3 and 4 based on being standalone games, not sequels to 1 and 2.

Also, again on the point of being anti-corporate greed, the majority sees Bethesda as a virtuous, principled developer that opposes EA and Ubisoft levels of shady business practices. So keep in mind the world sees things differently. Also, not everyone who likes Bethesda's work is intentionally trying to kill Fallout.

And finally, did you really have to copy and paste your original post? I'm not clear on the rules here but that is really annoying.

The most we could hope to do is show them how much money old cRPGs are bringing on kick starter and hope they would allow a fallout classic sequel or spinoff to be made like EA did with Command Conquer Renegade that runs a slightly different story arc or side by side with the FPS.

Couple of things-

First, I dislike the phrasing that Fallout is "our" franchise, since we don't own it. No matter how much I love Fallout, it doesn't belong to me and I don't get to have a say in how it goes. The events of my playthroughs of various Fallout games and the custom tabletop setting for a Fallout universe set in Fargo, ND I designed are mine, but the brand does not belong to me and I have no say in it beyond "what I like and don't like."

Second, I'm not sure what's less worthy of my concern: "Someone likes a work of fiction that I don't like", or "some youtube person I've never heard of says a thing I disagree with." I mean, Youtube is kind of a cesspool to begin with, but disagreements on fiction are fine.

AMEN BROTHER!!!! Come on boys lets grab some pitchforks or maybe just go to Joe's house and hold up placards with catchy slogans.

I had fun playing fallout 4. Your thread is stupid.

All of this. That and Angry Joe is a douche. I tried watching some of his reviews, but I can't get past his intolerable personality.

In all honesty, I like Angry Joe.
God help us if someone on the internet like something you don't like.
Boohoo.
I mean, as much as Fallout 4 pissed me off, I still love it, and if it wasn't for its faults, I wouldn't have strived to plan a CRPG of my own.
If it wasn't for it focus on action and streamlining it for the mass market, I wouldn't look at what people dislike about it so I can focus on what people do like.
I like it for its exploration and gun play, but where it falls flat on has influenced me to want to work on my own game.

Oh heaven forbid that someone else of some popularity declare Fallout 4 worthy of a place on a GOTY list.

But I pose this query; to any that believes this claim, what do they offer that makes their view worth listening to?

I had no idea the franchise was owned by us. And to me, it seems very much alive.

Something is certainly alive under all of that Fallout branding, but whether or not it's actually Fallout is debatable.

Joe is a weird one.. Watched a review like 2 years ago "Not enough people so the game feels empty.." Then 5 min later "THERE ARE PEOPLE EVERYWHERE RUINING MY IMMERSION!Oneoneeleven1"

I have no idea why he is reviewing games he doesn't play/understand. For me he is a console player that probably should stick to games like Halo at worst.
