Age of Decadence interview at RPGDot

The layout of structures and detail on them is almost perfect. However, I suggest a few more props in between. Nothing too fancy - carts, benches, debris (well, more debris, at any rate), buckets, laundry poles... Another thing is that the ground looks quite clean and homogenous, like there is only one texture for all tiles. It could use a bit more variety - I would like to see pebbles, stone tiles and patches of grass and weeds. In other words, the kind of detail that is typical in 2D RPGs but is more difficult to do in 3D.

Anyway, the towns look better than in Neverwinter Nights and many other high-budget "RPGs" (unlike NWN, these actually look like *open spaces*, amazingly enough), so my criticism is more of a nitpick.

This thread has some screens with lighting on.
Ah! Nice. The night lighting is great, the day lighting not so good. Even in full daylight, there are going to be areas of the character model that are shaded, but still, good to see it's there. It does alot to help the graphics.

This is exactly what I was getting at with my other point, your buildings are beautiful, the layout great and makes actual sense (unlike NWN and so many other games), but the space between - the streets, the ground around the tents, the alleys - all too clean, too empty. It would do alot for the look of the game just to throw some piles of junk and alot of the other stuff ratty mentioned in the in-between space. Still, more of a nitpick, constructive critism, if you will. In either case, fucking-A job so far. I look forward to the end result.

It's only a model, the ground is done separately and looks appropriately: grass, worn out patches, roads, junk, etc.
