Aliens Invade Fallout 3

By the way, the level of interaction of the writers of the new Star Trek with the fans is much higher than that of Bethesda.

That may be but I felt more that they were interested in 'new' fans than old fans.

I have been following the little conversation on the forum about the new Star Trek movie, the thing is, I believe they could have made a Star Trek movie that could have appealed to both old fans and new fans, not just new fans,

For example, was the time travel plot necessary?
Not really, why not a movie in which we meet Kirk and Spock when they are younger and follow their first great adventure on the same crew.

No need for time traveling Romulans with questionable revenge motives or blowing up Vulcan just because blowing up planets is fun.

On topic; there is no need or request for an alien invasion scenario, like the writers of the new ST movie the Bethesda writers just put them in because they thought it would be cool.

If they want to make new DLCs, do something with the damn Super Mutants, explaining their motives and who is leading them.

The conflict between the Brotherhood and the Outcasts.

Meeting the people of the Commonwealth.

Plenty of stuff without any need for space sci-fi gimmicks.

I'm an old fan and I like it.

And you gotta appreciate this level of fan interaction:

Actually, the old Spock was a nod to the old fans.

Personally I think it stinks, but that is me.
To me the movie is much like a generic space war with some punk turned captain.

As for the old Spock nod, I think we have reached a point in that we really should not have such nods anymore.

Sort of the same happened in Terminator Salvation, it might have got a knowing smile in the past but now its rather passed.

Also, I think Orci defended the Countdown comic at TrekMovie in the comments. Was cool of him, even though I loathe the comic.

I think we should transfer this conversation to the Star Trek comic.

Also, I am not sure if the comic was a good idea, in a way the new movie is just the second half of a story now.

Well, he did say that the comic is not canon, though (unlike Star Wars, in Star Trek only things shown on screen in a movie or TV series are canon).

He did? Cool, I guess. It was the worst case of pointless fanservice I've ever witnessed. Though, without it Nero is now even more one-dimensional.

ps. I actually liked the movie.

-edit-

On second thought, the comic was in the movie. I mean, Spock basically retold its events (leaving out the TNG bullshit and the Romulan Council bit, IIRC), no?

The comic was written after the movie was filmed. So it just used the backstory told by Spock and expanded on it, not the other way around.
