Anime

More of it did then didn't. I'm talking more about the 70s-80s when manga and anime became popularized and mass-produced. By mid-90s the big eyes carried over to most other genres as well.

^ Well, yes, except that the film (grave of fireflies) seems to want to make you sympathise with the teenager, which is what I really dislike.

Kids are the main protagonists in the film and the events and characters are seen trough their eyes. They see the aunt as evil as all kids see adults or as everybody sees persons with authority who doesnt give them what they want as evil. The film want to make the viewer sympathies with the children but also to make the viewer understand the reasons of cold behavior of adults towards them.

I see where you are right, but it doesn't really interfere with what I said. I guess in the end, maybe I'm just not a fan of teary-eyed war drama.

I have only one answer. My Answer being 8 times + 4 better then everybody else.

SAMURAI PIZZA CATS!!!!

WOW it looks really old, possibly even older than Ranma?

Just finished watching Hellsing OVA and wow it was good. The English voice acting was well done and it did a good recap of half the series. But most of all it got the feeling right on the spot the world of madness.

Word of advice: even mediocre Japanese voice-acting is usually 10x better than the very best English dub. Watch in Japanese with subs: you get better VA and a more accurate translation.

Started watching Kino no Tabi and its a great show. The series is about a traveler who with his talking motorbike visits different lands each with its unique customs. The protagonist is just a observer the world and avoids influencing it. Episodes often have mature themes and violence is uncensored and bloody. I highly recommend it.

^ Ooh, that one was great. I wish it was a bit longer. While a bit too simplistic at times, it was one of the best shows I've ever watched.

One of the best episodes was about two men of the railroad =)

Afro Samurai.

It's pure win. Can't wait till the followup now next month or something.

Are you in general a fan of Anime?
Because I've heard alot of fans of anime that hated the afro-samurai series, while I dislike most standard Anime's and LOVED afro samurai, great soundtrack, nice and gore-y, samuel L.

What more do you want?

P.S: I dont watch anime for scantily dressed lasses, i can watch hentai for that..

P.P.S: Lucky star has the best intro!

I didn't watch Afro, and likely won't, looks just like your average action shounen series, I rarely watch those anyway.

L*S is not that great tbh.

I have watched a couple of anime series yes, and would agree on that Afro Samurai is something a guy that regularily don't like anime series wouldn't really mind watching. It's got a really unique style, which is something I love seeing in films/ cartoons (like Sin City when it came out).

ROFL that sentence had me laughing so hard it hurt. But it does hold so much truth.

By the way are there any good new animes. Personally Id like remake of Gyuver series and Breserk deserves continuation.

Depends on your definition of "good", and the style you like.

Pretty much, read over this thread to find where people recommend good new anime.

Paprika and Akira are certainly anime greats. I can never remember many feature-length anime outside of Studio Ghibli, but those do stand out in my mind.

As for series', well of course I'm going to have to put Cowboy Bebop up there. But Baccanno!, FLCL, NGE, GitS and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei are all among my favorites.

Honorable mentions go to Darker than Black, Spice and Wolf and Haibane Renmei. I guess I could throw Black Lagoon and Library Wars on there, too.

Akira and Jin-Roh will forever lodged into my brain.....never to be forgotten.

I prefer Berserker in manga version, the anime version kinda short and incomplete.

You mean the manga author of Berserk dead or you mean the guy who make the anime?

I thought Berserk manga is still ongoing allthough a bit slow......
