I love staring long and deep into a well crafted painting. I'm hoping for an oportunity to see some good stuff, so post some works of your favorite artists!

I forget many names, but John William Waterhouse is one I do remember:

He has an odd habit of painting the same woman over and over again though

I always like sharp visual realism
I also really enjoy self-defined "kitch painter" Odd Nerdrum, a bit of an over-productive painter, he does a lot of simple "studies", but his semi post apocallyptic work is right down my alley:

Another fellow Norwegian is Theodor Kittelsen's trollyness:

Oh, and dinosaurs, painter Gregory Paul - and Douglas Henderson, respectively:

Remembered also, Paul Laffoley, alien-techno-hipster stuff:

I like the confident pragmatism of... whatever it is he is trying to convey :D
(and yes, they are acryllic on canvas, and hang in galleries... :D)

And some Yue Minjun as a final lulz:

I came to post some Caspar David Friedrich's paintings, but you beat me to it. I will never forgive that sin of yours.

...I'll be back.

I love any painting, especially by the Dutch, depicting normal village/town life during the medieval and reformation timeperiods. Seeing how people in the past lived their lives is fascinating.

i like steampunk and surrealist art. i also love unsettling nightmarish art so HR Giger must be mentioned.

and here's some of chet zar's work.

i don't really know what appeals to me about these particular images but... they feel like they're from the same universe.a place id like to read about. they certainly have a post-apocalyptic feel to them at least i think so.
