Any other PC games from pre 2000 that would interest me?

jeremy202

First time out of the vault
I have the following

Baldurs gate 1(havent even started)
planescape torment(havent beaten yet)
fallout 1(beaten)
fallout 2(beaten, as of 3:14 AM 9/2/2008)
diablo(so freaking terrible I just stopped playing)
daggerfall(beaten)

What other games of that time period would interest me?

Since you didn't specify a genre so i will just list extremely good games of their genres or games with rpg elements and good+ stories

Edit: Bg 1 and Tales of the sword coast expansion were nice/good games but combared to Bg 2 and Throne of Bhaal these 2 titles are just crude unfinished games. I was deeply moved/happy for playing all 4 stories from start to finish with my same little "started as level one and ended up as a worldshaker" character.

Tacticals:
Jagged Alliance 2 (get the unoffical 1.13 patch and urban chaos mods for it too)
Commandos
X-Com 3

First Person Perspectives:
Thief (1 and 2 might be too ugly graphically but if you can stomach it dont hesitate. 3 may be 2000+ but who cares i recomend it)
Deus-Ex 1 (2 was too idiotic imo but you might want to try it if you want)
System Shock 2 (Grab the hi-res textures and hi-res vids packs from the net)

Strategies:
If (and it is a big if) you can stomach it try soldiers of anarcy (with the "orders while paused" patch)
Startopia
Space Colony (I luvs April)

And on the i dont remember relase date corner:
The Fall Last Days of Gaia (German game-Patch to 1.10-add english language fan made conversion-it is a 100% grammatically correct conversion)
Nexus - The Jupiter Incident (Space Strategy Game based on individual ships)
Homeworld 1&2
Vampire the masqurade Redemption (1) and Bloodlines (2)
Arcanum of Steamworks & Magick Obscura....

operation flashpoint.

Operation Flashpoint is my number one favorite computer game of all time. Too bad ArmA is plagued with bugs. Still fun.

Hopefully ArmA 2 and OPF2 will be good.

Adventure Games:

I have no Mouth and I must scream

Zork Series

Discworld

Dig

Full throttle

Don't forget the classics Dark seed, and dark seed 2, featuring artwork by hr giger.

Some others.

Crusader No Remorse+No regret"(Isometric Shooter)

Syndicate+Syndicate Wars(Tactical Cyberpunk Strategy Game)

Descent, ALL OF THEM. Especially the freespace series of games

Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo actually, fuck that game and put Street fighter third strike in there.

some net yet named before:

Dark Reign 1, one of the first RTS games with really different factions and artillery that actually shot fuckall far away (3 screens away, i think). great voice art too.

Ground Control 1 (+exp) was awesome (spring 2000 iirc). squad based RTS.

Half-Life 1 and OpFor exp. a shitload better in it's day than HL2 was imo...

Another title that you might like:

Hostile Waters: Anteus Rising (An Rts where you control a nano-factory ship called Antheus. You could jump into direct control of vehicles and control them Decent style)

There was another Rts with similar setup but i cant remember its name. (You were an infantry when out of vehicle in that game)

Bioforge
Populous
Dungeon keeper I
Dungeon keeper II
Syndicate
Syndicate Wars
Worms Armageddon
Woodruff and the schnibble of Azimuth
Gobliiins 1,2 and 3
Carmageddon
Most of the classic Lucasarts adventures
...

Edit: For those who want to play Syndicate Wars on Xp, I found the following site very helpful: http://syndicate.lubie.org/

The Wing Commander games and Privateer.

I love being a space pilot or free trader.
Sure Elite gave more freedom but in Privateer you at least felt you also had a short term goal; solve the Steltek mystery and stop the Steltek probe/stop the Church of Man from destroying Gemini Sector.

Another adventure series I really liked were the Journeyman games, of course they are like Myst but the atmosphere felt great and Arthur must be one of the best sidekicks out there..

Has Freespace 1/2 also been mentioned.

I agree on almost all of the Lucasarts adventures, I don't know how to start in which order I like them, but don't forget the Revolution adventure games as well.
Try out "Beneath a Steel Sky"

There is also Lost Vikings 1 and 2.

This thread reminds me how uninspired most nowadays games are... :(

You said it, in a FO3 topic on the News section I pretty much described how I hate the slobbering brainless gamer masses of today.
They have no opinion of their own and will suck the developers/publishers' cocks for the slightest graphic innovation.

Die you soulless masses die die die!
Killing these people would be a kindness, we free them from the mockery of undead state.

As for the rest of the people in the forum, damn you guys, you made me all nostalgic for better days in gaming history.

I always liked Sub Culture but no one else here probably knows that game.

OMG Sub Culture! I loved the game back in the time! Collecting stuff like cigarettes and upgrading the little submarine while exploring the world was very cool <3
