Any Star Trek gamers here

Hello all,

The last couple of weeks I was going through some of my older Star Trek games again.
I just finished Star Trek Elite Force 2 and have started on "Star Trek Away Team which is sort of a Commandos/Desperadoes type of puzzle/strategy games..

Over the years I have bought quite some of the Star Trek games such as Star Trek 25th Anniversary, Judgment Rites, TNG "A final unity", TNG "Echoes from the past", Starfleet Academy, Klingon Academy, the Starfleet Command games (all four of them), DSN "The Fallen", Dominion Wars, Elite Force 1 and 2, Armada 1 and 2, Away Team, and Bridge Commander.

I haven't bought any of the games published by Bethesda or the small tie in game to the latest movie.

Star Trek Online was okay but it doesn't have the appeal of any of the Single Player games and I found it a bit bland to be honest.

Are there any other people on the forum that used to play Star Trek games or still play them?

Interesting you should make this thread. Recently I started watching the whole Star Trek: TNG series on Netflix, and now I feel like playing a Star Trek space combat game. Which one would you say has aged the best?

Fun fact about Away Team: Reflexive used its engine to develop Lionheart: Legacy of the Crusader, a game published by Interplay, that used the SPECIAL system and was dubbed "Fallout Fantasy" by its developers. Until it came out and turned out to be a steaming pile of rushed, underdesigned shit. Anyway, the game came out not long after I joined these forums, but its release was largely overshadowed by the announcements of FO:PoS and Van Buren/FO3. Still, that didn't stop Rosh from firing off a few poisoned arrows in Reflexive's direction, including constantly referring to Lionheart as Star Trek: Away Team: Lionheart: Legacy of the Crusader. Man, I miss those days. :D

Bridge Commander, possibly not actually but it's one of me mates favourite Star Trek games and he's always going on about it.

Mostly just played Elite Force, loved me that Quake engine and the textures for the time were great coupled with a good story and interesting weapons and situations.

Got Away Team but not played it, keep meaning to.

Hello deadr4tz,

That one is easy, Star Trek Bridge Commander.
If you want to fiddle more with various ship systems and strategies try the Starfleet Command games but most of them don't have complex campaigns.

including constantly referring to Lionheart as Star Trek: Away Team: Lionheart: Legacy of the Crusader.

Think Rosh treated ST Away Team a bit harshly from what you tell me.
I kind of like the game, sure it has its flaws but the people working on it put a decent story together that left me curious until the end.

Yeap played the 25th anniversary and Judgement Rites, great games. Was just like interacting in episodes of the original series. Some great writing right there.

I used to play Birth of the Federation a lot, plus Klingon Honor Guard and DS9 The Fallen, those are my favorite ST games. I've got Starfleet Command 1 & 3 but missed out on two, the really boring demo put me off. Elite Force was okay, very clever with the opening going into the titles as if it was a TV episode. I never played Elite Force 2, I didn't have the money or a rig that could play, I've always regretted not picking up a copy. Armada was okay but I didn't bother with the sequel I'm just not into RTS games. Dominion Wars wouldn't work on my PC at the time so I returned it unplayed, Away team had beautiful backgrounds but was otherwise crap, even New Worlds was a better Star Trek game.

I actually picked up a copy of Bridge Commander a few years back, from the bargain bin, but I've never bothered playing past the tutorial. Anyone know if it works on Vista 64?

Is Away Team the game that looks and feels like Fallout Tactics? 'Cause I sort of liked that one. Never played another Star Trek game, though.

Yeah I think you mean Away Team with that.

Forgot all about Klingon Honor Guard, Generations and Birth of the Federation, also own those.

I always liked Birth of the Federation, it would be great if it wasn't as buggy. I'd gladly play a TNG game with the depth of Moo2 or civ4.

I'm currently burning through TNG on netflix, up to season 6, so I'm itching to play the older plot focused adventure games.
